Gisaor Bids Farewell To Late Tyoor Songo

The Executive Director, Housing Finance and Accounts, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Dr. Vincent Iorja Gisaor, has joined the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, and thousands of sympathisers to bid farewell to the late Tyoor Mbakaange District, Chief Samuel Sendeior Songo.

Dr. Gisaor joined dignitaries, traditional rulers, family members and sympathisers from within and outside Benue State at the burial ceremony held on Friday, October 2, 2026, in Vandeikya Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking at the occasion, Gisaor described the late traditional ruler as an upright and visionary leader who dedicated his life to the service, peace and development of his people.

He said Chief Sendeior Songo provided exemplary leadership to his people, noting that his wisdom, fairness, sound judgment and strong sense of responsibility earned him the love and respect of the community.
The FHA Executive Director also described the late Tyoor as a detribalised and accommodating personality who demonstrated genuine commitment to the welfare of his people and the unity of the wider community.

Gisaor said the death of the traditional ruler at a time when the country was approaching another political cycle was particularly unfortunate, stressing that his passing constituted a significant loss not only to his immediate family and Mbakaange District, but also to Vandeikya, the Tiv Area Traditional Council, Benue State and Nigeria.
He urged the bereaved family, the people of Mbakaange District, the Tiv Area Traditional Council and the Benue State Government to take solace in the word of God and the legacy of service left behind by the late traditional ruler.

Quoting from the Book of Job, Gisaor said, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away,” urging the bereaved to remain strong and trust in God during the period of mourning.
He prayed God to grant the soul of the late Chief Samuel Sendeior Songo eternal rest and give the bereaved family and the entire Mbakaange community the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
