Aiguobarueghian Unveils Five-Point Agenda, Pledges Renewed Federal Representation For Ovia

Hon. Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian has been presented by his media team as a capable and experienced candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Ovia Federal Constituency, with a five-point agenda focused on infrastructure, agriculture, youth development, healthcare, education and effective legislative representation.

In a statement issued by the Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian (CIA) Media, the campaign described him as an accomplished legal practitioner, grassroots politician and former lawmaker whose experience in the Edo State House of Assembly would serve as a foundation for effective representation at the National Assembly.

The media team said his ambition was driven by the need to address the developmental challenges facing Ovia Federal Constituency and ensure that the area receives greater attention in federal policymaking and project allocation.

Titled “Ovia First, Ovia Forward,” the agenda outlines five priority areas through which the candidate intends to pursue development across the constituency if elected.

Five-Point Development Agenda

Under the first pillar, effective representation and a stronger federal presence, Iguodala is proposing people-oriented bills and motions, increased advocacy for federal projects and development grants, and efforts to attract federal agencies to establish a presence within the constituency.

The agenda also places significant emphasis on infrastructure, particularly the rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads and bridges.

According to the media team, the candidate has demonstrated concern over the condition of the Ovia Bridge and has advocated urgent government intervention. The campaign said he would pursue the reconstruction of federal roads across the constituency, expansion of electricity infrastructure and the deployment of solar-powered mini-grids to underserved communities.

The provision of solar-powered boreholes across the wards is also part of the proposed infrastructure programme.

On agriculture and local commerce, Iguodala plans to pursue the rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads to improve access to markets, reduce post-harvest losses and strengthen economic activities in farming communities.

The agenda further proposes measures to support farmers and small-scale traders, with the aim of improving their productivity and creating better opportunities for local businesses.

Youth Empowerment, Digital Skills Take Centre Stage

Youth development and digital innovation constitute another major component of the proposed programme.

The campaign said Iguodala intends to establish functional vocational training centres where young people can acquire practical skills in tailoring, fabrication and other trades.

It also proposed digital technology hubs to train young people in coding, data analytics and digital marketing, with the objective of improving their access to employment opportunities, including remote jobs.

Business mentorship and structured empowerment programmes for young entrepreneurs are also included in the plan.

On healthcare and education, the candidate's agenda focuses on improving primary healthcare centres through the attraction of modern medical equipment and personnel incentives.

The proposed education programme includes the renovation of dilapidated classroom blocks and the continuation of annual bursaries for brilliant students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

The campaign said these interventions would help strengthen access to essential social services and create opportunities for residents across the constituency.

Campaign Highlights Legislative Experience

The CIA Media identified Iguodala's legislative experience, legal background, grassroots connections and responsiveness to community challenges as key factors distinguishing him from other prospective candidates.

According to the media team, his experience in the Edo State House of Assembly has equipped him with the knowledge required to participate effectively in legislative proceedings, sponsor bills and motions, and advocate policies that address the needs of his constituents.

The campaign also stressed the importance of maintaining regular contact with communities and responding promptly to emergencies affecting residents.

It cited the candidate's reported advocacy for intervention over the Ovia Bridge situation as an example of his commitment to addressing pressing infrastructure concerns.

However, the proposed agenda will require sustained legislative advocacy, effective engagement with relevant federal agencies and collaboration with other levels of government to translate its commitments into tangible development outcomes.

Campaign Calls For Support

Reaffirming its message of “Ovia First, Ovia Forward,” the media team said the constituency deserved purposeful leadership, stronger representation and greater access to development opportunities.

The campaign urged eligible voters to support Iguodala's aspiration to represent Ovia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, describing him as an experienced candidate with a clear development agenda.

It also encouraged eligible voters to protect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the electoral process.
