Rev. Keenam Inspects National Assembly Chapel Ahead Of 6th Nigeria International Day Of Prayer

The Convener of the Nigeria International Day of Prayer Global (NIDPG), Rev. Godswill Keenam, has inspected the National Assembly Chapel in Abuja ahead of the 6th edition of the Nigeria International Day of Prayer scheduled for September 30, 2026.

Rev. Keenam undertook the inspection tour as part of efforts to ensure adequate preparations for the national prayer gathering, which is expected to bring together Christian leaders, prayer intercessors and Nigerians from different parts of the country and the diaspora.

The 2026 edition is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m. at the National Assembly Chapel, Abuja, under the theme, “Nigeria Must Rise Again: Prayer, National Transformation & The Ogoni Question.”
During the visit, Rev. Keenam assessed the facilities at the chapel and engaged with chapel officials on arrangements for the programme. Discussions focused on ensuring that the venue and other logistical requirements are adequately prepared for the gathering.

The Nigeria International Day of Prayer Global describes its mission as a prayer movement focused on intercession for Nigeria, with emphasis on peace, national transformation, restoration and the spiritual wellbeing of the nation. Its official platform says the movement has prayer centres across Nigeria and participation extending internationally.
Speaking on the significance of the forthcoming programme, Rev. Keenam expressed appreciation to the leadership of the National Assembly Chapel for providing the venue for what he described as an important spiritual assignment for the nation.

He called on Nigerians, irrespective of their ethnic, political or denominational backgrounds, to unite in prayer and seek divine intervention for the country.

According to him, the gathering is not merely about a single religious event but an opportunity for Nigerians to collectively reflect on the state of the nation and pray for peace, justice, unity, responsible leadership and sustainable development.
The inclusion of “The Ogoni Question” in this year's theme also places attention on one of Nigeria's longstanding national issues, particularly questions surrounding the Niger Delta, environmental concerns, development, justice and the relationship between resource-producing communities and the Nigerian state.

The organisers have also been promoting a wider prayer initiative leading up to the September 30 gathering. According to the NIDPG website, a 36-day prayer initiative focusing on violent crises in Nigeria is scheduled to run from August 23 to September 30, culminating in Abuja with the 6th Nigeria International Day of Prayer.

Rev. Keenam further urged Nigerians to see the prayer gathering as a collective responsibility and to participate actively in seeking a peaceful and prosperous future for the country.
He stressed the need for Nigerians to believe in the possibility of national renewal while also embracing their individual and collective responsibilities toward building a better society.

With preparations gathering momentum, the organisers are inviting Nigerians at home and abroad to join the September 30 intercessory gathering as the country seeks divine direction, peace and transformation.
