2027: Mathias Aliu Campaigns On Accountability, People-Centred Representation In Etsako Central
As political activities ahead of the 2027 Edo State House of Assembly election gather momentum, supporters of Hon. Mathias Igekhie Aliu have called for a new approach to representation in Etsako Central, anchored on accountability, accessibility, competence and service to the people.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 14, 2026, the group said Etsako Central deserves a representative who would listen to constituents, speak courageously on issues affecting the people and place the interests of the constituency above personal ambition.
The statement declared support for Aliu as the preferred candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Edo State House of Assembly seat representing Etsako Central Constituency in the 2027 election.
According to the supporters, the 2027 contest should go beyond political party affiliations and personalities, stressing that the central issue should be the quality of representation available to the people.
“This is not just about politics. It is about representation that answers to the people. It is about leadership that can be questioned and held accountable. It is about having a strong and courageous voice for Etsako Central,” the statement said.
The supporters further urged voters to demand measurable results from whoever emerges as their representative, arguing that elected officials should remain accessible to their constituents and be prepared to give account of their stewardship.
Aliu's name has featured in political developments around Etsako Central earlier in 2026. In May, reports said his Media Team headed by Comr. Ahmed Amidu celebrated his emergence from an NDC House of Assembly primary, describing him as a grassroots politician with significant support among party members and community stakeholders.
The Etsako Central State Constituency comprises communities within Etsako Central Local Government Area, with Fugar serving as the local government headquarters. The constituency is represented by a single member in the Edo State House of Assembly.
With the 2027 election approaching, the political contest in the constituency is expected to attract increased attention as parties and candidates seek to convince voters on their capacity to provide effective legislative representation.
The Aliu camp said its message for the coming election would remain focused on accountability and people-centred leadership.
“No more politics without accountability. No more representation without results. In 2027, Etsako Central must choose a voice that belongs to the people,” the statement added.
The supporters maintained that the people of Etsako Central have an opportunity in 2027 to demand a new direction and support leadership they believe will prioritise their interests.
They therefore called on constituents to support Hon. Mathias Igekhie Aliu for the Edo State House of Assembly, Etsako Central Constituency, under the platform of the NDC.
