Dr. Oyarekwa Austine Felix, candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP) for Akoko-Edo Constituency II in the 2027 Edo State House of Assembly election, has been presented by his campaign as a professional with extensive international experience and a strong commitment to human capital development and community advancement.
In a statement highlighting his professional background and political aspiration, the campaign described Felix as a global human capital strategist, entrepreneur, development professional and thought leader whose career spans more than two decades.
According to the statement, Felix has worked with international development and humanitarian organisations, including Mercy Corps, the International Rescue Committee, Management Sciences for Health, Palladium and Save the Children UK, contributing to human resources, talent acquisition and organisational development initiatives across different countries.
The campaign also highlighted his academic background, stating that he holds a Doctorate in Human Resources Management from Atlantic International University, USA, alongside qualifications in public and international affairs, human resources, modern languages and information technology.
It further stated that Felix is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of TALENTA Africa, an initiative focused on economic inclusion for informal workers, as well as NexaEdge Consulting Limited, which provides institutional and organisational development services.
The statement said Felix's professional experience has involved supporting human resources and recruitment operations across more than 25 countries and working on development programmes supported by international partners, including USAID, DFID, FCDO, ECHO, the United Nations and the European Union.
The NDP candidate's campaign also pointed to his professional affiliations, including membership and fellowship of relevant management and human resources bodies, as well as his work in mentoring young professionals and building human capacity.
According to the campaign, Felix's political aspiration is driven by a desire to bring his professional experience to bear on the development needs of Akoko-Edo Constituency II.
It identified education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, agriculture, economic development and community security among the areas the candidate intends to prioritise if elected.
The campaign further argued that representation should be anchored on competence, accountability, accessibility and service to the people, while calling for greater opportunities for residents of the constituency.
Felix's supporters have consequently positioned his international professional experience and human-capital background as central to his candidacy, describing his aspiration as an opportunity to connect global experience with local development needs.
