A Season Of Thanksgiving, Renewed Hope As Ebonyi Marks Independence, State Creation Anniversaries
The Ebonyi State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Mrs. Helen Nnenna Aduga, has joined other dignitaries and residents in thanksgiving to God as the state commemorates Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the creation of Ebonyi State.
Aduga participated in the Thanksgiving Mass held at the Ebonyi State Government House Chapel, Ochoudo Centenary City, Abakaliki, as part of activities marking the two significant anniversaries.
The thanksgiving provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on Nigeria’s journey since independence and Ebonyi State’s three decades of existence, while expressing gratitude for what they described as God’s faithfulness and continued guidance.
In a message issued by Kingsley Ogbonna Nweda on September 27, 2026, Aduga was described as a visionary, pragmatic and refined leader who joined the state’s thanksgiving celebration in recognition of the significance of the anniversaries.
The statement also highlighted the culture of thanksgiving associated with Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, noting that the governor has consistently expressed appreciation to the people of Ebonyi State for their support and returned glory to God for the achievements recorded under his administration.
According to the statement, the administration’s supporters point to developments in the welfare of civil servants, pensioners and students, as well as improvements experienced by traders and other residents, as part of the reasons for renewed optimism across the state.
It further noted that the prevailing peace and stability in the state have contributed to the atmosphere of celebration as Ebonyi marks 30 years since its creation.
The message concluded with an expression of gratitude to God and prayers for continued progress and prosperity for Ebonyi State and Nigeria.
