Bibi Urges Edo South NDC Supporters To Remain Steadfast Amid Candidacy Dispute
The Edo South Senatorial Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Sunny Aguebor, popularly known as BIBI, has urged party members and his supporters across the seven local government areas of the senatorial district to remain calm, steadfast and committed to the party amid the ongoing dispute over the party's senatorial candidacy.
Aguebor called on his supporters not to be distracted by what he described as recent activities by certain individuals purporting to unveil a candidate for the NDC in Edo South.
He maintained that the issue of the authentic candidate of the party remains before the courts, urging all parties involved to respect the judicial process and allow the courts to determine the matter.
According to Aguebor, the candidacy dispute is currently the subject of proceedings before the Federal High Court, Edo State Division, and the Abuja High Court, where relevant issues concerning the party's nomination are being considered.
He alleged that the recent purported unveiling could amount to contempt of court, given the pending legal proceedings, and urged party members to remain focused rather than allow the development to create division within the party.
Aguebor further disclosed that his legal team had filed relevant Certified True Copies (CTCs) of the candidacy documents before a competent court as part of efforts to establish his claim to the NDC senatorial ticket.
He expressed confidence in the judicial process, saying he believes that the issues surrounding the candidacy will ultimately be resolved in accordance with the law.
The NDC candidate appealed to his supporters across Edo South to exercise patience and resilience while the legal process continues.
“This is a time for patience and resilience. Continue to show your support for the NDC and our Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi. Together, we shall recover our dear country in no distant time,” he said.
Aguebor also urged his supporters to remain peaceful and avoid confrontations, stressing that the courts remain the appropriate avenue for resolving disputes over political nominations.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the NDC and said he would continue to pursue every lawful avenue available to protect what he described as the mandate entrusted to him by the party's supporters.
The Edo South senatorial candidate also called for unity among NDC members across the district, urging them to remain focused on the party's broader objective ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He expressed optimism that the ongoing legal process would bring clarity to the controversy and provide an opportunity for the legitimate issues surrounding the candidacy to be resolved.
Aguebor's position comes amid competing claims surrounding the NDC's Edo South senatorial ticket, with the matter reportedly now being contested through legal channels.
He urged party members and supporters to remain steadfast, respect the rule of law and await the outcome of the judicial process.
