2027 FCT Senate: Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu Kwali Takes Fresh Air To Rural Communities, Distributes Free Sanitary Pads To Women
As the FCT Senatorial Campaign officially kicks off, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senate, Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu, has taken his “Fresh Air” campaign directly to rural communities, with the distribution of free sanitary pads to women and girls.
The initiative formed part of his community engagement with residents and traditional stakeholders across the FCT, where he reiterated his commitment to grassroots inclusion, women’s welfare and people-centred representation.
Dr. Iliyasu, a Chartered Arbitrator and President of the North Central People’s Development Initiative, said effective representation must begin with listening to communities and understanding their needs.
He explained that his decision to take the campaign to rural areas was deliberate, stressing that residents outside Abuja’s urban centres deserve equal attention and access to basic services.
A major highlight of the engagement was the distribution of free sanitary pads to women and schoolgirls, an initiative aimed at addressing menstrual health challenges, particularly among girls from less privileged families.
Dr. Iliyasu said menstrual health remains an important issue that deserves greater government attention, noting that no girl should be forced to miss school simply because she cannot afford sanitary products.
He also outlined his plans to advocate for improved antenatal care for pregnant women, wider access to breast and cervical cancer screening, better-equipped healthcare centres and stronger support systems for women across the six Area Councils.
According to him, his proposed representation will focus on equity, healthcare, rural infrastructure, employment and inclusive development.
“Good governance means we listen to you and solve with you. An all-inclusive government is our common responsibility,” he stated.
The NDC candidate urged residents of the FCT to remain united across ethnic, religious and political lines, stressing that meaningful development can only be achieved when communities actively participate in determining their priorities.
Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu Kwali is contesting for the FCT Senate seat in the 2027 general election under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), with his campaign anchored on “Fresh Air, Equity and Service to the People.”
