Bibi Counters Osifo’s Claims As Edo South NDC Suit Is Adjourned For Judgment

Hon. Sunny Aguebor, popularly known as Bibi, has responded to claims attributed to Hon. Isaiah Osifo regarding the ongoing legal dispute over the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Edo South Senatorial District ticket.

In a statement issued on Monday, Bibi described the claims as erroneous and urged members of the public to disregard what he called attempts to misrepresent the proceedings in the case involving Hon. E.J. Agbonayima, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the NDC.

According to Bibi, while Hon. E.J. Agbonayima initially instituted the suit against INEC, the NDC and Mrs. Epele Osayuki Asemota, INEC, in its response to the suit, tendered Certified True Copies of documents relating to the Edo South Senatorial District primary election.

Bibi claimed that the documents tendered before the court showed that neither Agbonayima nor Asemota emerged as the winner of the primary, but that he, Sunny Aguebor, popularly known as Bibi, was recorded as the winner.

He further stated that, following the presentation of the documents, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja directed that he be joined as a respondent in the suit.

Bibi said he subsequently joined the case through his legal team, which, according to him, further relied on the documentary evidence presented by INEC.

Reacting to a video referenced by Osifo, Bibi said the submissions by counsel to Agbonayima centred on his emergence from the primary, arguing that the focus of the proceedings had shifted from Asemota to the status of the primary election and his claim to the ticket.

He also claimed that the court admitted the August 1, 2026 Forms EC9 containing his personal particulars, alongside documentary evidence earlier tendered by INEC.

Bibi consequently dismissed claims concerning alleged substitution or uploading of another candidate's name, describing such claims as a distraction from what he said were the substantive issues before the court.

He urged supporters and members of the public to remain calm while awaiting the court's decision, noting that the matter had been adjourned for final judgment on November 27, 2026.

Bibi expressed confidence that the court's eventual decision would bring clarity to the dispute.
