People’s Charter Of Needs Is A Philosophy Of Good Governance, Development — Nwedu

Hon. Nwedu Abraham Nwedu, a member of the Ebonyi State Board of Internal Revenue (EBSIRS), has described the People’s Charter of Needs as the central philosophy guiding the administration of Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Prnc. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB, FCAI, GGCEHF.

Nwedu, in a statement made available to journalists, said the People’s Charter of Needs goes beyond being a political slogan, describing it as a governance philosophy founded on the principle that government exists primarily to serve the people and respond to their genuine needs.

According to him, the philosophy places the aspirations, welfare, and wellbeing of Ebonyians at the centre of government policies, programmes, and development initiatives.

He said the approach requires leadership to listen to the people, understand their challenges, identify their priorities, and take practical steps toward providing sustainable solutions.

Nwedu noted that since assuming office, Governor Nwifuru has continued to pursue a people-oriented administration anchored on what he described as "leadership that listens, leadership that cares, leadership that acts, and leadership that delivers."

He explained that the philosophy is reflected in the administration's interventions across critical sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, human capital development, workers' welfare, agriculture, grassroots development, and economic empowerment.

According to him, the administration's investments in these areas demonstrate an effort to move governance from promises to purposeful action and from identifying challenges to implementing practical solutions.

Nwedu particularly emphasised the importance of human capital development, saying that investments in education, professional training, healthcare workers, and other areas that strengthen the capacity of citizens constitute long-term investments in the future of Ebonyi State.

He also commended the administration's focus on infrastructure and healthcare, noting that improved roads, educational facilities, hospitals, medical equipment, emergency services, and other public infrastructure directly contribute to the quality of life of citizens.

The EBSIRS board member said the People’s Charter of Needs reflects Governor Nwifuru's belief that public office is a responsibility to serve rather than merely a position to occupy.

He described Governor Nwifuru as a leader determined to leave meaningful footprints in the lives of the people, adding that the administration's development agenda is focused on building a stronger, more prosperous, and sustainable Ebonyi State.

Nwedu expressed confidence that the continued implementation of the People’s Charter of Needs would further consolidate the achievements of the administration and create greater opportunities for Ebonyians.

He said the governor's record of development would remain a significant factor in shaping public confidence in his leadership ahead of the 2027 political season.

Nwedu prayed for God's continued wisdom, strength, sound health, and divine guidance for Governor Nwifuru as he continues to implement policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of the people of Ebonyi State.
