NDC Chikun/Kajuru: Udawa Campaign Office Denounces Alleged Parallel Candidacy, Calls For Public Vigilance

The Campaign Office of Hon. Buhari Udawa has raised the alarm over what it described as a misleading claim circulating online that Hon. Alexander Adanu has emerged as the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming election.

In a statement signed by the Acting Director-General of the Buhari Udawa Support Organisation, Zakka Musa, the campaign office categorically rejected the report, describing it as false and urging residents of Chikun and Kajuru Local Government Areas to disregard the publication.

The statement was issued following a report titled, “BREAKING: Ex-Ekene Adams’ Finance DG, Hon. Alex Adanu Emerges NDC Candidate for Chikun/Kajuru,” which circulated online and purported to announce Adanu as the NDC candidate for the federal constituency.

According to the Buhari Udawa campaign organisation, the report did not emanate from the NDC or the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and therefore should not be relied upon as an authoritative confirmation of the party's candidate.

The campaign office maintained that Hon. Buhari Udawa remains its recognised candidate for the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, insisting that his nomination was conducted by the party in accordance with the NDC Constitution and applicable provisions of the Electoral Act.

It further stated that Udawa's nomination details and relevant particulars, including EC9/EC13, had been uploaded to the INEC portal and duly acknowledged.

“Hon. Buhari Udawa remains the authentic and legitimate candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress for Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency,” the statement said.

The organisation also warned individuals or groups allegedly presenting themselves as the NDC candidate for the constituency against doing so, describing such conduct as impersonation and an illegality.

It urged party supporters, stakeholders and the general public to exercise caution and verify political claims through official party and electoral channels before accepting or sharing information circulating on social media and other online platforms.

The campaign office assured supporters that the NDC structure in Chikun and Kajuru remained united and focused on the forthcoming election, while calling on party faithful to remain calm and committed to the party's political objectives.

The controversy has further underscored the need for prospective voters and party members in the constituency to rely on official communications from the NDC and INEC when determining the status of candidates.

For now, the Buhari Udawa campaign organisation maintains that its principal remains the NDC candidate for Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency and has urged the public to disregard what it described as a purported parallel candidacy.
