Campaigns Officially Begin Tekenah Unveils People-Centred Agenda For Bayelsa East

Campaign activities have officially commenced for Dau Kenny Tekenah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial candidate for Bayelsa East, as he called on constituents across Ogbia, Nembe and Brass Local Government Areas to join him on a journey towards purposeful and people-centred representation.

Tekenah, a corporate executive, licensed insurance professional and community advocate, described the commencement of the campaign as more than a political exercise, saying it provides an opportunity to reconnect with the people, listen to their aspirations and concerns, and present a clear vision for the future of the senatorial district.

In his message to constituents, the NDC candidate welcomed stakeholders, traditional and community leaders, youths, women, supporters and residents across Bayelsa East, stressing that the campaign would be anchored on engagement, inclusiveness and service.

According to him, true leadership must remain centred on the people and should translate into tangible improvements in the lives of citizens and communities.

As the campaign progresses across Ogbia, Nembe and Brass, Tekenah said particular attention would be given to issues affecting grassroots communities, including youth and women empowerment, support for local initiatives, economic opportunities, infrastructure development and improved access to essential services.

His broader political agenda also focuses on legislative advocacy for stronger intervention in the challenges of coastal erosion, flooding, environmental degradation and inadequate road infrastructure affecting communities across Bayelsa East and the wider Niger Delta.

Tekenah, who is the founder and Principal Broker of Dykes Insurance Brokers Ltd, has positioned his private-sector experience as part of the value he intends to bring to legislative representation. His supporters believe his background in business, community engagement and advocacy can contribute to a more practical and development-oriented approach to public service.

He further emphasised the values of unity, accountability, inclusiveness and purposeful representation, describing them as central to the NDC's vision and his campaign for the senatorial district.

“Today, we open a new chapter, one founded on unity, inclusiveness, accountability, purposeful representation and service to the people,” Tekenah said.

He acknowledged that the road ahead could be challenging but expressed confidence that collective determination, unity of purpose and the support of the people would strengthen the campaign.

The candidate also called for the active participation of youths, women, community representatives, stakeholders and other constituents, maintaining that the success of the political journey would depend on the collective involvement of the people.

With campaign activities now underway, Tekenah is seeking to build momentum across the three local government areas that make up Bayelsa East, presenting himself as a candidate committed to grassroots engagement, effective representation and development-focused leadership.

The campaign is expected to take the candidate and his supporters to communities across the senatorial district as they engage directly with constituents and advance their message ahead of the 2027 general elections.
