Enyimba Economic City Board Commends Otti’s Leadership, Seeks Stronger Partnership With Abia Government

The newly reconstituted Board of the Enyimba Economic City Development Company, led by its Chairman, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, has commended Governor Alex Otti for what it described as his exceptional leadership and the visible transformation taking place across Abia State.

The board made the commendation on Friday, August 14, 2026, when it paid a courtesy visit to Governor Otti at the Government House in Umuahia.
Speaking during the visit, Ohuabunwa praised the governor’s administration for delivering what he described as tangible democratic dividends to the people of Abia.

“Since you came, we can all proudly walk around and say we have somebody who is showing the light of what governance is all about, especially when we talk about democratic dividends,” he said.
According to him, democratic dividends had previously remained largely theoretical to many Nigerians, but the situation has changed under the Otti administration, with residents now witnessing improved infrastructure and visible development across the state.

“We now drive on good roads and witness visible development across the State,” Ohuabunwa added.
The board chairman described Enyimba Economic City as a “pan-Igbo project,” stressing that the delegation’s visit was aimed at exploring areas of collaboration between the company and the Abia State Government.

He expressed the board’s desire to support the administration in consolidating its achievements and advancing the development of the state.
“Our desire is that the good job you started will be completed. We need to know what we can do individually and collectively. We would like to know how we can assist you and assist your government,” Ohuabunwa stated.

He assured Governor Otti of the board’s individual and collective support for the success of his administration.
Responding, Governor Otti thanked the delegation for the visit and congratulated Ohuabunwa on his appointment as chairman of the reconstituted board.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to implementing policies and programmes focused on improving the welfare and security of the people, while creating an enabling environment for investment, enterprise and economic growth.
Governor Otti also expressed confidence that the newly constituted board, made up of experienced professionals, would make meaningful contributions to the development of Abia State and the advancement of the Enyimba Economic City project.

Members of the delegation included Professor Barth Nnaji, Professor Osita Ogbu, Ambassador Okey Emuchay, Major-General Obi Abel Umahi (Rtd.), and Chief Onyeuku Chidi Ajaegbu, among others.
Also present at the meeting were the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, SAN; the Principal Secretary and Chief Strategy Officer to the Governor, Mr. Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu; Special Adviser on Monitoring and Evaluation, Mazi Ugochukwu Okoroafor; and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Comrade S.O.B.
