Nwifuru's School Monitoring Initiative Strengthening Quality Education In Ebonyi — Nwedu
A member of the Ebonyi State Board of Internal Revenue (EBSIRS), Nwedu Abraham Nwedu, has said that the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru remains steadfast in its commitment to improving the quality of basic education through a robust monitoring and accountability system across public schools in the state.
Nwedu stated that education continues to occupy a central place in the People's Charter of Needs agenda of the Nwifuru administration, noting that the government has established a comprehensive monitoring structure covering all public primary and secondary schools in the 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State.
According to him, the initiative is designed not as a fault-finding exercise but as a mechanism to ensure that government investments in education translate into measurable learning outcomes in classrooms across the state.
He explained that the monitoring teams are deployed daily to assess school attendance by pupils and students, teachers' punctuality and commitment to classroom instruction, effective utilization of the free instructional materials provided by the government, and the overall learning environment in public schools.
> "The objective is to ensure that every child in Ebonyi State, regardless of location, has access to quality teaching and learning. Monitoring allows government to identify successes, address challenges promptly, and strengthen accountability across the education sector," Nwedu said.
He noted that reports from monitoring visits are properly documented and acted upon without delay, adding that teachers who demonstrate dedication and achieve positive learning outcomes are recognized and encouraged, while identified gaps are addressed through supervision, retraining and other support mechanisms.
Nwedu stressed that the administration believes excellence in education can only be achieved when teachers are accountable, students are actively engaged in learning, and schools operate in a conducive environment.
He further described the initiative as part of Governor Nwifuru's vision of building an education system where every school day counts, every teacher teaches effectively, and every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.
"The Nwifuru administration is laying a solid foundation for the future of our children through quality basic education. Today we are on the ground monitoring schools; tomorrow Ebonyi will be counted among Nigeria's leading states in educational excellence," he added.
Nwedu commended Governor Nwifuru for his unwavering commitment to strengthening the education sector, describing the ongoing reforms as strategic investments in the future of Ebonyi State and the development of its human capital.
