Your Voter's Card Is Your Visa To Victory, Hon. Mark Tells Atata Youth
The Councilor representing Ugbomro and Atata Ward in the Uvwie Legislative Arm, Hon. Mark Eramadawa, has urged young people in Atata Community to embrace skills acquisition, remain security-conscious, and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Hon. Eramadawa made the call during a town hall meeting with youth and community leaders held at the Atata Town Hall in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State on Saturday.
Addressing participants, the councilor commended the resilience and patriotism of Atata youths and pledged to continue working closely with both the youth and elders to advance the development of the community.
He encouraged young people to focus on self-development rather than waiting for government assistance, stressing that hard work remains the foundation for success. According to him, government at different levels is creating opportunities through various skills acquisition programmes, citing the recent empowerment initiative facilitated by Senator Ede Dafinone as an example.
Hon. Eramadawa urged youths to take advantage of such opportunities to become economically independent and productive members of society.
Speaking on the importance of political participation, he described the Permanent Voter Card as a vital instrument for accessing the dividends of democracy, noting that many government empowerment programmes require beneficiaries to possess valid voter registration.
He therefore called on eligible residents to register and collect their PVCs ahead of the 2027 elections.
The councilor also appealed to the people of Atata to support the re-election of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that continued support for the ruling party would attract more development projects and opportunities to the state.
On security, Hon. Eramadawa urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, emphasizing that maintaining peace and safety is a collective responsibility.
Speaking on behalf of the Atata Youth Body, the Secretary-General, Comrade Esiso Christopher, appreciated the councilor for creating a platform for dialogue with the youth. He also commended the Executive Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Hon. Chief Anthony Onoriode Ofoni, for the ongoing market project in Atata, describing it as a development that would stimulate economic activities within the community.
Esiso noted that regular engagements between elected representatives and young people would strengthen unity and deepen community participation in governance.
The youth also appealed to the authorities to install security streetlights across Atata Community to improve nighttime visibility and curb petty crime.
Also speaking, Comrade Rufus Umukoro reaffirmed the support of the youth for the administrations of Governor Oborevwori, President Tinubu and the ruling APC.
Among dignitaries present at the meeting were Chief Tejiri Emiovwo, Comrade Esiso Christopher, Comrade Obodo Eruwu, and other community stakeholders.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by community leaders and youths to work together in promoting development, security, and greater civic participation in Atata Community.
