Ebonyi Elders Endorse Gov Nwifuru For Second Term, Urge Reconciliation Among APC Aspirants

The Ebonyi State Council of Elders has unanimously endorsed Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 governorship election, citing his leadership qualities, fairness, and commitment to peace and unity in the state.

In a statement issued after reviewing recent political developments surrounding the selection of prospective candidates for the State and National Assembly elections in the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Council commended the governor for what it described as his exemplary handling of issues arising from the party’s internal processes.

The statement, signed by the Chairman of the Council, Engr. Ben Okah, and the Secretary, Nduka Ozo, praised Governor Nwifuru’s leadership style and political maturity, noting that his actions had further reinforced his position as “the Father of Ebonyi State.”
According to the elders, the governor demonstrated a deep understanding of governance and displayed unwavering commitment to the peace, unity, and overall wellbeing of Ebonyi people during the period.

They further stated that Governor Nwifuru’s approach to leadership had been marked by fairness, inclusiveness, and a sincere desire to protect the collective interests of all segments of the state.

“As critical stakeholders in the state, we wish to express our profound appreciation and pride in his leadership and accomplishments thus far,” the statement read.

The Council added that the “solid and concrete foundation” laid by the governor had created a credible pathway for continued progress and development in Ebonyi State, thereby justifying their endorsement of his second-term bid.

The elders also appealed to all APC consensus candidates to urgently reach out to co-aspirants in the spirit of reconciliation and unity following the party’s selection processes.

In addition, they urged individuals criticising the governor and the Ebonyi State Government to desist from actions capable of creating division or political tension in the state.
