Imo APC Warns Against Unauthorized Meetings Ahead Of 2026 Primaries
The All Progressives Congress in Imo State has issued fresh directives to aspirants and party members ahead of the party’s 2026 primaries, warning against unauthorized meetings, endorsements and zoning arrangements not approved by the party leadership.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the party leadership advised all aspirants who have purchased Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to strictly adhere to the revised timetable for the 2026 primaries as released by the National Working Committee (NWC).
The party stated that the screening of aspirants would proceed as scheduled unless otherwise directed by the NWC, urging all aspirants to ensure that their credentials are authentic and verifiable, their financial records properly updated and their party membership duly revalidated.
The APC also directed aspirants to confirm that only active members of the party serve as their sponsors during the screening process.
The statement further declared that no meetings or party gatherings should be convened without the explicit approval of the State Working Committee through official communication channels.
According to the party, Senatorial District, Local Government Area and Ward chapters must obtain prior permission before convening any meetings related to party affairs.
The party emphasized that its decisions regarding the nomination of candidates would be guided strictly by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act, the APC Constitution and the party’s guidelines for the conduct of primaries.
It stressed that it would not recognize any endorsement, zoning or rotational arrangement initiated by groups or individuals outside decisions officially agreed upon by the party leadership.
The APC warned that aspirants, stakeholders or members who violate the directive by organizing or attending unauthorized meetings, or by using cultural, community or pressure groups to influence the nomination process, would face sanctions.
The party urged all aspirants and members to conduct themselves peacefully and demonstrate sportsmanship throughout the exercise, while assuring loyal members that the party values consistency and dedication.
The statement was signed by Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, State Publicity Secretary of the party, and dated May 7, 2026.
