Uzodimma Urges Unity, Discipline As APC Prepares For Primaries, Elections In Imo
Governor Hope Uzodimma has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State to remain united, disciplined, and focused as the party gears up for its primaries and the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the APC State Secretariat in Owerri, the governor congratulated the newly inaugurated state executive, expressing confidence in their capacity to reposition the party for greater success.
Uzodimma explained that the meeting was convened to foster unity, engage party leaders, and strategise ahead of the electoral contests. He noted that with multiple aspirants vying for various positions, loyalty to the party must take precedence over personal ambition.
“For every position, only one person will emerge. Your commitment to the party is paramount,” he said, cautioning against actions that could undermine cohesion within the APC.
The governor further emphasised the need for the party to manage its growing influence responsibly, urging members to justify the confidence reposed in them by the electorate through effective coordination and strengthened grassroots structures.
Reaffirming the relevance of the “Charter of Equity,” Uzodimma described it as a vital framework for ensuring fairness and political balance across the state. He noted that equitable power rotation among the zones would enhance stability, peace, and sustainable development.
Expressing optimism about the party’s electoral prospects, the governor maintained that the APC remains the dominant political force in Imo State and is well-positioned to secure victories across all levels if unity is sustained.
He also encouraged members to embrace sacrifice, faith, and patience, stressing that ultimate power comes from God, while assuring party faithful that victory is achievable through collective effort.
In his remarks, the Imo State APC Chairman, Augustine Onyedebelu, thanked stakeholders for attending the meeting—the first since the inauguration of the new executive. He pledged, on behalf of his team, to justify the confidence placed in them and to work collaboratively to strengthen the party.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders of the APC, including aspirants seeking various elective offices in the upcoming general elections.
