Zebulun Advocates Fresh Page, People-Centred Leadership In Rivers

Warigbani Ezekiel Zebulun has called for a fresh approach to governance in Rivers State, advocating inclusive leadership, transparency, unity and sustainable development as essential pillars for building a prosperous future for the state.

Zebulun, in a message outlining his vision for Rivers State, said the time had come to rethink leadership, restore public confidence in governance and place the welfare and aspirations of the people at the heart of government policies and programmes.

He maintained that the people of Rivers State deserved a system of governance that prioritises their needs, protects their interests and creates an enabling environment for citizens to realise their potential.

According to him, a fresh page represents an opportunity to move beyond divisions, strengthen public institutions and establish a governance culture in which accountability, fairness and the responsible use of public resources are fundamental principles.

He stressed that leadership should be measured not merely by promises or political positions but by its ability to improve the lives of ordinary citizens, create economic opportunities and deliver development that reaches communities across the state.

Zebulun's vision also highlights the need to empower young people through skills acquisition, vocational training, entrepreneurship support and access to employment opportunities. He noted that investing in the productive capacity of the youth would help reduce unemployment, discourage social vices and position Rivers State for long-term economic growth.

He further emphasised the importance of women's empowerment, arguing that women should have greater access to economic opportunities, business support and meaningful participation in decision-making processes.

On infrastructure and community development, the fresh-page agenda underscores the importance of functional roads, improved healthcare facilities, quality education, reliable water supply and a cleaner environment. Such investments, alongside effective maintenance of existing infrastructure, would help improve living standards and stimulate economic activities across urban and rural communities.

Zebulun also highlighted the importance of supporting small and medium-sized businesses, strengthening the local economy and creating an environment in which entrepreneurs can thrive. According to the vision he promotes, sustainable development must extend beyond major urban centres to ensure that communities across Rivers State have fair opportunities to benefit from economic growth.

He maintained that transparency and accountability must remain central to public administration, with government institutions expected to operate in the interest of the people. An effective governance system, he suggested, should encourage public participation, listen to citizens' concerns and ensure that development priorities reflect the actual needs of communities.

The call for a fresh page also places emphasis on peace, unity and constructive engagement among the state's diverse ethnic groups, political interests and communities. Zebulun's message presents cooperation and mutual respect as important foundations for overcoming differences and pursuing common development goals.

He noted that the future of Rivers State should not be limited by the challenges of the present, insisting that the state possesses the human and economic potential to achieve greater prosperity through purposeful leadership and collective responsibility.

For Zebulun, the idea of a fresh page goes beyond a political slogan; it represents an opportunity to renew public confidence, promote responsible leadership and build a society where citizens feel valued and have a genuine stake in the state's development.

He called for a collective commitment to a better Rivers State, stressing that the task of building a prosperous and peaceful society requires the participation of leaders, community stakeholders, professionals, business owners, young people and ordinary citizens.

The overarching message is that Rivers State can chart a more promising course when governance is driven by the people's interests, public resources are deployed responsibly and development policies are designed to deliver tangible benefits to citizens.

With the future of the state depending on decisions made today, Zebulun's fresh-page message calls for renewed hope, purposeful leadership and a shared commitment to leaving future generations a Rivers State they can be proud of.
