Okpebholo Is Building Legacy For Generations Yet Unborn — Udebhulu
Prince Kelly Udebhulu, an APC chieftain, political strategist and communication expert, has described Governor Monday Okpebholo’s infrastructure and development agenda as efforts capable of leaving a lasting legacy for generations of Edo people yet unborn.
Udebhulu, in a statement on the governor’s administration, said political leadership should ultimately be measured not only by the occupation of office but by the enduring impact of policies, projects and initiatives left behind.
He described Okpebholo, popularly known as Akpakomiza, as a leader whose approach to governance reflects resilience, focus and determination.
According to him, the significance of projects being executed across Edo State goes beyond their immediate benefits, as roads, schools, healthcare facilities, markets and other public infrastructure can continue to serve communities long after the present administration has left office.
Recent government disclosures have highlighted road construction and rehabilitation across the state, including 28 road projects covering about 255 kilometres, as well as the Ramat Park and Adesuwa flyover projects in Benin City. The administration has also reported interventions in education, healthcare and security.
Udebhulu said such investments should be viewed through the lens of their long-term value to Edo communities and future generations.
“Tomorrow, children who are not yet born will drive on these roads, attend these schools, visit these hospitals and trade in these markets. They may ask: ‘Who did these projects?’ Edo’s history will provide the answer: Senator Monday Okpebholo,” he said.
He added that the governor’s projects would ultimately be judged by how well they serve the people, create opportunities and contribute to the sustainable development of the state.
Udebhulu therefore urged the people of Edo State, particularly the Esan people, to support initiatives aimed at advancing development, while encouraging the administration to remain focused on delivering projects that have lasting value.
“For this reason, the Esan people of Edo State should rally around their son, encourage him, support excellence and ensure that Akpakomiza’s tenure brings enduring pride, honour and fame to the Esan land,” he said.
He stressed that political office is temporary, but the impact of purposeful governance can outlive an administration and become part of the history of a people.
“Legacy is not simply about occupying office; it is about what remains after you have left,” Udebhulu added.
