Leghemo Pledges Inclusive Representation For All Communities In Southern Ijaw
Diepreye Abaye Leghemo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, has pledged to promote inclusive representation, accountability and grassroots engagement, insisting that every community deserves to be heard and carried along in the development process.
Leghemo said effective leadership goes beyond occupying political office, stressing that its true value lies in the ability to address people's concerns, create opportunities and improve lives.
In a message highlighting his vision for Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, the NDC candidate noted that communities across the constituency have legitimate aspirations, while families face challenges and young people continue to pursue opportunities to realise their dreams.
He maintained that these concerns must receive adequate attention, regardless of the size or geographical location of the communities involved.
According to him, no community should feel neglected or believe that its interests do not matter in decisions affecting the constituency.
Leghemo emphasised that meaningful representation must be anchored on consultation, accountability, accessibility and a clear understanding of the everyday realities of the people.
He explained that elected representatives must listen to their constituents before taking decisions, engage stakeholders before formulating policies and maintain constant contact with the people whose mandate they seek.
The candidate further stated that his aspiration is to provide purposeful representation that reflects the hopes and aspirations of the people, advocates their collective interests and works towards bringing development opportunities closer to communities across Southern Ijaw.
He stressed that the constituency deserves a representative who does not merely speak on behalf of the people but also listens to their concerns, identifies with their challenges and pursues initiatives capable of advancing their welfare.
Calling for collective participation in the political process, Leghemo urged the people of Southern Ijaw to join him in building a constituency where every community has a voice and every legitimate concern receives attention.
He called on voters to support the NDC at the polls on January 16, 2027, expressing confidence that inclusive and people-oriented representation would provide a stronger foundation for the constituency's progress.
