Eseigbe Commends Okpebholo’s Security Drive, Says Governor Has Restored Public Confidence In Edo

The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Esan Central, Esan West and Igueben Federal Constituency, Sir Lucky Eseigbe, Esq., has commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his administration’s efforts to tackle insecurity and restore public confidence across the state.

Eseigbe made the commendation on Friday after accompanying the governor to a fellowship at God's People Worldwide Prayer Ministry, where Okpebholo reviewed the security challenges confronting the state and outlined measures being implemented to combat kidnapping, cultism and other violent crimes.

The APC candidate said the governor’s commitment to addressing insecurity reflected the importance of courageous leadership, political will and a clear sense of responsibility in tackling challenges affecting the lives and livelihoods of citizens.

According to Eseigbe, Edo residents need a government that confronts difficult challenges with determination, adding that the administration’s efforts to address insecurity have raised hopes for safer communities and a more conducive environment for businesses and economic activities.

He stressed that security remained fundamental to development, noting that meaningful progress in agriculture, commerce, infrastructure and other sectors would be difficult to achieve without a peaceful environment.

“Governor Monday Okpebholo has shown that leadership is not about making promises; it is about taking responsibility and confronting the problems that affect the people directly.

“Security is fundamental to development. When people can travel freely, go to their farms, open their businesses and sleep peacefully in their homes, the economy grows and communities become more productive.

“What we witnessed today is another reminder that Governor Okpebholo is deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of Edo people. His administration deserves the support and cooperation of every stakeholder who genuinely wants a safer and more prosperous Edo State,” Eseigbe said.

He also commended the governor for maintaining a connection between governance and faith, describing the fellowship as an opportunity to seek divine guidance and reflect on the responsibilities entrusted to public officeholders.

Eseigbe noted that the governor’s engagement with Christian leaders and religious communities demonstrated the importance of combining decisive governance with moral responsibility and collective prayers for the state.

The APC candidate urged Edo residents to continue supporting the administration’s development agenda, particularly in security, infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and economic empowerment.

He maintained that the administration’s performance should be assessed within the context of the challenges it inherited, arguing that sustained cooperation among government institutions, community leaders and residents would help consolidate ongoing programmes and deliver greater benefits to the people.

Describing Okpebholo as a leader who has demonstrated courage, accessibility and commitment, Eseigbe praised the governor’s grassroots engagements, which he said were essential to strengthening the relationship between government and the people.

He particularly highlighted the importance of the governor’s interactions with traditional institutions, religious leaders, youths, women and other stakeholders, noting that direct engagement with communities could help government better understand and address their needs.

“Edo people are watching the changes taking place. The message is becoming clearer: this administration is determined to build a safer, stronger and more prosperous Edo State.

“Governor Okpebholo has our support for every genuine effort aimed at protecting lives, improving infrastructure, creating opportunities and moving Edo forward. What the people need now is continuity, cooperation and collective commitment to the development of our state,” he added.

Eseigbe also called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist in preventing and tackling criminal activities.

He emphasised that maintaining peace and security required collective responsibility, urging communities to remain vigilant and support lawful government initiatives aimed at protecting lives and property.

The APC candidate reaffirmed his commitment to working with Governor Okpebholo and other party leaders to strengthen grassroots engagement and advance the interests of the people of Esan Central, Esan West and Igueben Federal Constituency.

He further described the 2027 political season as an opportunity for residents to consider the importance of continuity in governance and support leadership committed to addressing the state’s developmental challenges.

Speaking at the fellowship, the Founder of God's People Worldwide Prayer Ministry, Apostle Ehijele Unuayan, urged Christians to participate actively in the 2027 electoral process.

Citing Proverbs 29:2, the cleric encouraged members of the congregation to complement their prayers for good leadership with responsible participation in elections.

Unuayan described Governor Okpebholo as a humble man with a longstanding commitment to the things of God, recalling that he had known the governor for more than 15 years, dating back to when Okpebholo accompanied the late Chief Tony Anenih during visits.

The fellowship brought together political, religious and community stakeholders to reflect on the security and development of Edo State, with Eseigbe reiterating that the welfare of the people must remain central to governance and political participation.
