BIBI Celebrates Akpata At 54, Hails His Contributions To Law, Public Service

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Edo South Senatorial District, Hon. Dr. Sunday Aguebor, popularly known as BIBI, has congratulated renowned lawyer and politician, Mr. Olumide Akpata, on his 54th birthday.

In a goodwill message, BIBI described Akpata as a distinguished Edo son whose career in law, professional leadership and public service has earned him recognition both within and beyond the state.

Born on October 7, 1972, Akpata studied Law at the University of Benin and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1993. He later joined Templars in Lagos, where he became a senior partner and played a significant role in the growth of the firm.

Akpata also rose through the ranks of the Nigerian Bar Association, including serving as Chairman of the NBA Section on Business Law before making history in 2020 as the first person outside the rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria to become NBA President in about three decades.

He subsequently ventured into partisan politics and was the Labour Party's candidate in the 2024 Edo State governorship election.

BIBI said Akpata's birthday provides an opportunity to celebrate his contributions to the legal profession and his continued involvement in matters concerning Edo State and Nigeria.

He wished the former NBA President many more years of good health, wisdom, fulfilment and meaningful service to humanity.

“On behalf of myself, my family and associates, I warmly congratulate Mr. Olumide Akpata on the occasion of his 54th birthday. May this new chapter bring greater accomplishments, peace, good health and renewed opportunities to continue contributing to the development of our dear Edo State and Nigeria,” BIBI stated.

He prayed that God would continue to guide and strengthen Akpata as he marks another milestone in his life.

“Happy 54th birthday, Olumide Akpata. May your years ahead be filled with grace, wisdom and greater achievements,” BIBI added.
