Akoko-Edo Constituency 2: Oyarekwa Felix Pledges Competent, People-Centred Representation

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 Edo State House of Assembly election, the candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP) for Akoko-Edo Constituency 2, Dr. Austine Oyarekwa Felix, has promised to bring competence, vision, accountability and purposeful representation to the constituency if elected.

Dr. Felix, while presenting his political vision, said the people of Akoko-Edo Constituency 2 deserve representation anchored on measurable results rather than election-season promises.

He stressed the need for a new approach to political leadership, one that places competence, ideas, integrity and service to the people above personal ambition.

According to him, his aspiration to represent the constituency is driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to the development of the area and provide a stronger voice for its people at the Edo State House of Assembly.

His agenda places particular emphasis on quality education and human capital development, youth empowerment and employment, improved healthcare and social services, road and infrastructure development, economic opportunities for farmers, traders and entrepreneurs, as well as effective representation and accountability.

Dr. Felix also highlighted the importance of ensuring that every ward and community within Akoko-Edo Constituency 2 receives meaningful attention and representation, stressing that development should not be concentrated in a few areas while other communities are left behind.

With his background in human capital development, entrepreneurship and international development, his campaign is positioning his experience as an asset that could be deployed toward attracting opportunities, partnerships and development initiatives to the constituency.

The NDP candidate maintained that political office should be regarded as a responsibility entrusted to an individual by the people, rather than a personal entitlement.

He therefore called on voters to look beyond political rhetoric and assess candidates based on their capacity, character, experience, vision and ability to deliver tangible results.

The campaign further described the 2027 election as an opportunity for the people of Akoko-Edo Constituency 2 to demand a higher standard of representation and make a deliberate choice about the future of their communities.

It noted that the development of the constituency would require sustained advocacy, effective legislative engagement and a representative who can identify opportunities and work consistently to attract them to the people.

Dr. Felix's message has consequently centred on building a constituency where young people have greater access to opportunities, communities benefit from improved infrastructure and social services, and residents have a representative who remains accessible and accountable to them.

As the 2027 election approaches, the NDP candidate is urging constituents to embrace what he describes as a new standard of leadership—one founded on listening, hard work, competence and delivery.

He is seeking the mandate of the people of Akoko-Edo Constituency 2 to represent them in the Edo State House of Assembly under the platform of the National Democratic Party (NDP).

For Dr. Austine Oyarekwa Felix and his supporters, the message is clear: the time for competent leadership is now, and the future of Akoko-Edo Constituency 2 cannot be postponed.
