Aiguobarueghian: Ovia Federal Constituency Deserves Effective Representation
Hon. Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Ovia Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, has been presented as a credible choice to address the developmental challenges facing the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Supporters of the lawmaker say his legislative experience, grassroots connections and record of constituency interventions position him to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Ovia North-East and Ovia South-West local government areas of Edo State.
They argue that effective representation goes beyond the distribution of food items during election campaigns to include quality legislation, federal infrastructure, improved education, accessible healthcare, economic empowerment and employment opportunities for young people.
According to the supporters, Aiguobarueghian demonstrated his capacity to serve during his tenure as a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, where he served as Majority Leader.
They attributed the facilitation of classroom blocks, boreholes, empowerment programmes for women and youths, as well as financial assistance to students and traders in Ovia North-East Constituency I, to his previous legislative interventions.
They maintained that his experience at the state level could provide a foundation for pursuing more development projects and attracting federal interventions to Ovia Federal Constituency if elected to the National Assembly.
On infrastructure, Aiguobarueghian's supporters identified the Udo–Ofunama Road, Okada–Ofosu Road and the Benin–Ore Road, particularly the section around the Ovia River bridge, among the routes requiring urgent attention.
They also called for interventions to address erosion and other environmental challenges affecting communities across the constituency.
The supporters expressed confidence that Aiguobarueghian's legislative experience would help him lobby for projects through the federal budget, relevant ministries, departments and agencies, and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
They further stressed the need for targeted development programmes for riverine communities, noting that improved infrastructure and access to government interventions would help stimulate economic activities and improve residents' living conditions.
Beyond infrastructure, they said the constituency required sustained investment in education, healthcare, youth development, women's empowerment and small businesses to create opportunities and reduce economic hardship.
The supporters also described Aiguobarueghian as a grassroots politician who understands the challenges facing his constituents, expressing optimism that his candidacy would provide an opportunity to change the narrative of perceived neglect in the area.
They called on voters to support his ambition under the NDC, insisting that Ovia Federal Constituency needs purposeful leadership capable of translating campaign promises into tangible development.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the campaign is anchored on the message that the constituency deserves effective representation, improved access to federal opportunities and a stronger voice in the House of Representatives.
