2027: Oyarekwa Felix Seeks People-Centred Representation For Akoko-Edo Constituency II

NDP candidate pledges accountable leadership, community participation and sustainable development
Amb. (Dr.) Austine Oyarekwa Felix-Aderi, the National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate for Akoko-Edo Constituency II in the 2027 Edo State House of Assembly election, has called for people-centred representation, accountable leadership and sustainable development, urging constituents to carefully consider the future of the constituency as the next general elections approach.

Felix-Aderi, in a message to the people of Akoko-Edo Constituency II, said the 2027 election presents an opportunity for residents to reflect on their developmental priorities and determine the kind of representation they want at the Edo State House of Assembly.

He stressed that elections should go beyond political contests and personalities, noting that the process provides an opportunity for citizens to assess candidates' ideas, commitments and capacity to represent their interests.

According to him, the future of Akoko-Edo Constituency II depends on choosing a representative who understands the needs of the people, maintains regular engagement with communities and advocates for practical solutions to local challenges.

The NDP candidate said his aspiration to represent the constituency is anchored on tested and trusted leadership, accountable representation, community participation and sustainable development.

He maintained that the people deserve more than promises, emphasising the need for clear priorities, measurable commitments, transparent communication and consistent engagement between elected representatives and their constituents.

Felix-Aderi identified youth empowerment, access to quality education, employment opportunities, improved healthcare, electricity, better roads and stronger public services as areas requiring sustained attention to improve the living conditions of residents.

He also called for a development approach that recognises the economic potential of the constituency's natural and mineral resources, stressing the importance of harnessing such opportunities to promote local enterprise, generate employment and expand shared prosperity.

On inclusive governance, the candidate underscored the need to ensure that traditional institutions, women, young people, professionals, farmers, traders and community leaders have meaningful opportunities to contribute to decisions affecting their communities.

He argued that effective representation should not be limited to legislative activities in the Assembly but should also involve continuous consultation with constituents, identifying their needs and advocating for policies and projects that address them.

According to Felix-Aderi, public office should be regarded as a responsibility entrusted to elected representatives by the people rather than a personal entitlement.

He therefore urged residents to look beyond political slogans and personalities when evaluating candidates for the 2027 election, encouraging them to ask questions, examine proposals and demand accountability from those seeking their mandate.

The candidate also called for constructive political engagement, saying that the development of the constituency requires a shared commitment to practical solutions, inclusive participation and sustained attention to the needs of local communities.

He expressed his readiness to engage with constituents, receive their advice and listen to their expectations as part of efforts to develop a more inclusive and opportunity-driven Akoko-Edo Constituency II.

Felix-Aderi further emphasised that the relationship between elected representatives and the people should continue beyond election day, with regular communication and accountability serving as essential elements of effective representation.

As the 2027 elections approach, he urged eligible voters to participate actively in the democratic process and make informed decisions based on the issues and development priorities that matter most to them.

The NDP candidate reiterated his commitment to presenting his vision for the constituency and inviting residents to scrutinise his proposals as they consider their options for the forthcoming election.

He concluded with a call for collective action towards building a constituency where young people can access opportunities, communities can benefit from improved public services, and residents can participate meaningfully in decisions concerning their future.

Felix-Aderi is seeking election to represent Akoko-Edo Constituency II in the Edo State House of Assembly under the platform of the National Democratic Party in 2027.

His message is anchored on the slogan: “Tested and Trusted Leadership. Accountable Representation. A Future Built Together.”
