Udebhulu Welcomes Tinubu’s Intervention On Benin–Asaba Road

Edo State APC chieftain, Prince Kelly Udebhulu, has welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention on the Benin–Asaba Road, describing the development as a significant response to the hardship experienced by motorists, commuters, businesses and communities along the critical corridor.

President Tinubu had directed urgent intervention on the Benin–Agbor–Asaba route, while the Federal Ministry of Works subsequently commenced emergency measures to restore failed sections of the highway. The ministry has also announced plans for the entire route to be redesigned for reconstruction with reinforced concrete pavement.

Udebhulu expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for responding to the difficulties faced by road users and commended the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, for the steps being taken to provide immediate relief.

He also acknowledged the role of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, in engaging with the Federal Government on infrastructure challenges affecting the people of the state.

According to Udebhulu, the Benin–Asaba Road is more than a major transportation route, as it connects communities and facilitates the movement of people, goods and businesses across the South-South and South-East regions.

He said the intervention demonstrates the importance of cooperation between the Federal and Edo State governments in addressing critical infrastructure challenges.

Udebhulu Urges Diaspora Engagement

Udebhulu also called on Edo indigenes in the diaspora to remain interested in developments in the state and follow government programmes, policies and records with keen attention.

He encouraged them to participate responsibly in the democratic process and make their civic choices based on relevant facts, government records and issues affecting Edo State.

“The Benin–Asaba Road is more than just a road. It is a vital economic and transportation corridor connecting communities, businesses and families,” Udebhulu stated.

He expressed hope that the ongoing cooperation among the Federal Government, Edo State Government and other stakeholders would lead to lasting improvements on the road and better conditions for its users.
