Omoruyi Steps Up Constituency Development With Solar Boreholes, Streetlights In Egor/Ikpoba-Okha
The Member representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Murphy Osaro Omoruyi, is intensifying constituency development efforts with ongoing interventions in water supply and public lighting across communities in the constituency.
The projects, which include the installation of solar-powered boreholes and streetlights, are aimed at addressing some of the everyday infrastructure challenges confronting residents of Egor and Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Areas of Edo State.
The solar-powered boreholes are designed to improve access to potable water while reducing dependence on conventional electricity or fuel-powered systems. By using solar energy to power the facilities, the intervention is expected to provide a more sustainable means of operating water systems, particularly in communities where access to reliable electricity remains a challenge.
The ongoing streetlight installation is another component of the constituency development efforts. Solar-powered streetlights have previously featured among Omoruyi's documented constituency interventions, with reports highlighting their installation across major streets in Egor and Ikpoba-Okha.
Beyond providing illumination at night, improved street lighting can enhance visibility for residents, support evening commercial activities and complement community-level security efforts.
Omoruyi's constituency interventions have also included an annual scholarship programme for public secondary school students, financial support for market women, youth vocational training and sports development initiatives.
On the legislative front, the lawmaker has sponsored initiatives connected to the development of his constituency, including a bill seeking the establishment of a Federal Institute of Technology in Ikpoba-Okha. The proposal was listed in the proceedings of the National Assembly.
The latest infrastructure interventions further place emphasis on practical constituency projects that directly affect daily life, particularly access to water and safer, better-lit communities.
For residents of Egor/Ikpoba-Okha, the projects represent an approach to representation centred on visible infrastructure, social intervention and community-focused development.
