Independence Day: JUAofAfrica Calls For Unity, Patriotism, Renewed Hope For Nigeria
As Nigeria marks its Independence Day, Hon. Jeffrey Ugochukwu Adigwe, popularly known as JUAofAfrica, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Aniocha South State Constituency in the 2027 Delta State House of Assembly election, has called on Nigerians to uphold unity, peace, patriotism, integrity and a renewed sense of hope in the collective task of building a stronger nation.
In his Independence Day message, Adigwe celebrated the resilience, courage and determination of Nigerians, describing the country as a nation blessed with rich cultural diversity, talented citizens and enormous human and natural potential.
According to him, the anniversary should not only be a moment of celebration, but also an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the journey of the nation, appreciate the sacrifices of those who contributed to its development and renew their commitment to building a peaceful, united and prosperous Nigeria.
Adigwe stressed that national development requires the collective responsibility of citizens, leaders and institutions, noting that every Nigerian has a role to play in strengthening the country.
He emphasised the importance of unity, responsible leadership, integrity and accountability, maintaining that Nigeria's diversity should remain a source of strength rather than division.
The NDC candidate also called for greater commitment to peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among Nigerians across ethnic, religious, political and geographical lines.
He said the future of Nigeria depends significantly on the willingness of its citizens to put the common good above narrow personal interests and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities and the nation.
Adigwe expressed optimism about the country's future, urging Nigerians not to lose faith in the nation's potential despite the challenges confronting the country.
He noted that genuine progress requires patience, sacrifice, courage and collective determination, while encouraging citizens, particularly young Nigerians, to remain hopeful and continue contributing positively to society.
The Aniocha South candidate further stressed the importance of leadership that listens to the people, remains accountable and places service above personal ambition.
He said Nigeria's continued progress would be strengthened when citizens and leaders work together towards a shared national vision anchored on justice, unity, opportunity and inclusive development.
Adigwe also prayed for God's continued protection over Nigeria and its people, while asking for wisdom, courage and good judgment for those entrusted with leadership responsibilities at all levels.
He described the Nigerian flag as a powerful symbol of the country's unity, hope and enduring love for the nation, urging citizens to continue to uphold the values represented by the green and white colours.
The celebration, he said, should inspire Nigerians to believe in their collective capacity to build a better country and to leave a stronger foundation for generations yet unborn.
He concluded by extending warm Independence Day greetings to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, calling for continued faith in the Nigerian spirit and commitment to the country's peace and development.
“Happy Independence Day, Nigeria. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Long live the Nigerian spirit. God bless Nigeria,” Adigwe said.
