Gisaor Suspends Acceptance Of Awards, Honours Until Further Notice
The Executive Director, Housing Finance and Account, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Dr. Vincent Iorja Gisaor, has suspended the acceptance of awards and honours from groups, individuals and corporate organisations.
Gisaor, in a statement issued on Friday, September 11, 2026, said the decision was aimed at avoiding distractions that such recognitions could pose to the effective discharge of his official responsibilities.
Consequently, the Executive Director has declined recent offers of awards and honours from the African Students Union Parliament (ASUP) and the Northern Youth Organisation of Nigeria, among others.
He said the decision became necessary to enable him remain focused on his new assignment and the responsibilities entrusted to his office.
Gisaor maintained that public officers should be allowed to work and distinguish themselves through their performance before receiving awards in recognition of their contributions.
According to him, the primary responsibility of every public servant is to deliver effectively on the mandate of his or her office.
He acknowledged that awards and honours serve as gestures of recognition and encouragement, but stressed that they should not become a source of distraction from the task of serving the public and achieving organisational objectives.
The Executive Director has therefore directed that, henceforth, he would not receive or accept any award, honour or similar recognition from groups, individuals or corporate organisations until further notice.
The general public, organisations, associations and other stakeholders have consequently been advised to take note of the directive and refrain from making arrangements for the conferment of awards or honours on the Executive Director until otherwise directed.
