BIBI Keeps Promise, Donates Over 1,000 Desks, Chairs To Alma Mater In Edo
Hon. Sunny “BIBI” Aguebor, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Edo South Senatorial District, has donated more than 1,000 double school desks and chairs to Iguodala Primary School in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
The donation, which is part of his longstanding philanthropic activities and commitment to supporting the less privileged, was made to the school where BIBI completed his primary education.
The gesture was received with excitement and appreciation by pupils, parents, community elders and officials of the Edo State Ministry of Education, who described the intervention as timely and significant to the improvement of the learning environment.
The pupils expressed their gratitude through songs, chants and dances, saying the new furniture would make learning more comfortable while restoring dignity to their classrooms.
They also prayed for continued blessings upon BIBI, describing him as a friend of children and a son of the community who had remembered his roots and returned to support the school that played a role in his early education.
Community elders, in their separate remarks, commended the NDC candidate for giving back to his alma mater and for his continued concern for people at the grassroots.
They described the donation as an impactful intervention that would directly benefit pupils and teachers, while urging other individuals, organisations and leaders to emulate the gesture by investing in education and community development.
Officials of the Edo State Ministry of Education who witnessed the presentation also appreciated BIBI for complementing government efforts in addressing the shortage of basic educational infrastructure.
According to them, the provision of more than 1,000 desks and chairs would help reduce the furniture deficit in the school, provide pupils with a more conducive environment for learning and contribute to improved academic participation.
They assured that the furniture would be properly utilised and maintained for the benefit of present and future pupils of the school.
Speaking during the presentation, BIBI reaffirmed his commitment to education, youth development and improving the welfare of vulnerable members of society.
He said returning to Iguodala Primary School to provide the needed furniture was more than a philanthropic gesture, describing it as a personal responsibility to give back to the institution that contributed to his foundation.
BIBI noted that education remained one of the most important investments any society could make, stressing that children should not be compelled to learn in uncomfortable conditions because of inadequate classroom furniture.
He called on individuals, corporate organisations, community leaders and other stakeholders to join hands with government in strengthening basic education and creating opportunities for children to thrive.
The intervention further underscores BIBI’s emphasis on community support and philanthropy, particularly initiatives aimed at improving the lives of children and other vulnerable members of society.
For the pupils and community of Iguodala, the donation represents not only the provision of much-needed classroom furniture but also a practical demonstration of a former pupil returning to invest in the school and community that shaped his early years.
