Bibi Congratulates Dickson On Leadership Newspaper’s Politician Of The Year Award
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Edo South Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Sunny “Bibi” Aguebor, has congratulated the former Bayelsa State Governor and National Leader of the NDC, Distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, on his recognition as Leadership Newspaper’s Politician of the Year 2026.
Aguebor, in a congratulatory message, described the recognition as a well-deserved honour for Dickson, whom he referred to as a respected brother, leader and statesman whose political career has been defined by public service, democratic engagement and commitment to national development.
“I warmly congratulate my dear brother and leader of our great party, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, on his recognition by Leadership Newspaper as Politician of the Year,” Aguebor stated.
Leadership Newspaper, in announcing the award, highlighted Dickson’s role in the emergence and leadership of the NDC, his contribution to the defence of multiparty democracy, his record in government and his continued relevance in national politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Aguebor said the recognition was particularly significant given Dickson’s extensive experience across different levels of public service, including his tenure as Governor of Bayelsa State, service in the House of Representatives and his current role as Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District.
He also commended Dickson for his leadership of the NDC at a time when Nigerians are seeking stronger political alternatives and greater accountability in governance.
According to Aguebor, Dickson’s emergence as a leading figure in the NDC has demonstrated the importance of experienced leadership in building a credible political platform capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s democratic development.
He described the award as not only a personal achievement for Dickson but also a recognition of the growing political relevance of the NDC ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Senator Dickson has continued to demonstrate that leadership is about service, courage, sacrifice and the willingness to contribute to the advancement of democracy and the wellbeing of the people,” Aguebor said.
The Edo South senatorial candidate further expressed confidence that Dickson would continue to provide purposeful leadership within the NDC and contribute to the party’s efforts to offer Nigerians a credible political alternative.
He congratulated the NDC National Leader once again, praying that God would grant him greater wisdom, strength and good health to continue serving the nation.
“This recognition is well deserved, and I join millions of Nigerians, members and supporters of the NDC in celebrating our leader. Congratulations once again, Distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, on this remarkable achievement,” Aguebor stated.
The recognition comes as political parties and their leaders intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the NDC positioning itself as a major platform in Nigeria’s evolving opposition politics.
