Austine Felix Unveils Five-Point Agenda For Akoko-Edo Constituency 2

Dr. Austine Oyarekwa Felix, the NDP candidate for Akoko-Edo Constituency 2 in the Edo State House of Assembly, has unveiled a five-point agenda focused on job creation, education, healthcare, infrastructure, accountability and good governance.

Felix said his ambition is driven by the need to transform the enormous human and natural potential of Akoko-Edo Constituency 2 into sustainable development and shared prosperity for the people.

Akoko-Edo Constituency 2 comprises Wards 1, 2, 8, 9 and 10, covering communities including areas within Igarra, Enwan, Ekpedo and Ososo.

In his message to constituents, the NDP candidate described Akoko-Edo as a land blessed with hardworking people, fertile agricultural resources and abundant mineral deposits but noted that many communities still face challenges relating to poor road infrastructure, unemployment, healthcare, education and limited economic opportunities.

He said it was time for the constituency to translate its enormous potential into prosperity for every family.

According to Felix, his proposed development blueprint is anchored on a comprehensive industrial and human capital development policy designed to create opportunities and promote sustainable growth across the constituency.

Under the first pillar of his agenda, Jobs and Economic Empowerment, Felix pledged to promote opportunities for youths and women through skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programmes.

He also promised to support small businesses and farmers, attract investments and development projects, and advocate increased local employment opportunities, particularly in the mining and agricultural sectors.

On Education and Human Capital Development, the NDP candidate said he would advocate improved public schools and learning facilities, scholarships and bursaries, as well as vocational, technical and digital skills training for young people.

Felix said investment in education and human capital would remain critical to securing the future of the constituency.

The third pillar of his agenda focuses on Healthcare and Social Welfare, with commitments to strengthen primary healthcare centres, improve maternal and child healthcare services, support community health outreach programmes and advocate affordable and accessible healthcare.

On Infrastructure and Rural Development, Felix said he would push for improved roads connecting communities, expanded access to clean water and electricity, market development and other rural infrastructure.

He stressed that development must reach every ward and community within the constituency.

The candidate also listed Accountability, Security and Good Governance as a major component of his agenda, promising to establish regular town hall meetings and maintain open communication channels with constituents.

He said his representation would be guided by transparency, accountability, community security and peaceful coexistence.

Felix further pledged to advocate fair benefits for host communities, a comprehensive human capital development plan, local jobs and economic opportunities, environmental protection and transparency in mining operations.

He said sustainable community development projects would also form an important part of his legislative advocacy.

“I will be accessible, transparent, accountable, inclusive and results-oriented,” Felix assured the people.

“I will listen to the people, speak for the people and work for the people.”

The NDP candidate said his vision for Akoko-Edo Constituency 2 is centred on better roads, improved schools, quality healthcare, increased job opportunities, stronger communities and greater prosperity.

He called on the people of the constituency to support his aspiration, promising effective representation and a people-oriented approach to governance.

“Together, we will build a constituency of greater opportunities, sustainable development and shared prosperity,” he said.
