Aduga Receives School Delegation, Reaffirms Link Between Education, Grassroots Leadership

The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ebonyi State chapter, and Executive Chairman of Izzi Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Helen Nnenna Aduga, has received a delegation from Junction Secondary School, Nwezenyi, in continuation of engagements surrounding her emergence as the council chairman and ALGON leader in the state.

The courtesy visit, which took place on Friday, September 18, 2026, brought together the administrators of the school and its Senior Prefect, Uchechukwu Nwenyi, who represented the students and the wider school community.

The visit was described as an expression of solidarity and goodwill towards Aduga, whose professional background in the teaching profession has been closely associated with education, mentoring and youth development.

Aduga recently emerged as Executive Chairman of Izzi Local Government Area following the August 2026 local government elections in Ebonyi State. She subsequently emerged Chairman of the Ebonyi State chapter of ALGON, alongside other council chairmen elected into the association's executive committee.

The school delegation's visit therefore provided an opportunity to connect Aduga's background in education with her new responsibilities in grassroots administration, particularly at a time when expectations are high for local government leaders to promote development and respond to the needs of their communities.

The presence of the school's Senior Prefect also added a youth dimension to the engagement, symbolising the connection between today's students and the leadership responsibilities that shape the future of communities.

With her experience in the education sector, Aduga is positioned at an intersection between two important areas of public service: preparing young people for the future and providing leadership at the grassroots level.

The engagement also reflects the broader expectations surrounding her administration in Izzi, particularly the need for leadership that is responsive to the aspirations of residents and supportive of human capital development.

The administration is expected to align its programmes with the People’s Charter of Needs agenda of the Ebonyi State Government under Governor Rt. Hon. Bldr. Prince Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, while focusing on issues that directly affect the people at the grassroots.

For the school community, the courtesy visit was more than a formal interaction. It was an opportunity to identify with one of its own whose journey from the education profession into public leadership represents a transition from shaping young minds in the classroom to participating directly in the administration and development of a local government.

As Aduga settles into her new responsibilities, the growing engagements with institutions and community stakeholders are expected to provide opportunities for dialogue on education, youth development and other issues central to the future of Izzi Local Government Area.
