2027: Gbaragba Emerges As ADC Candidate For Khana/Gokana, Pledges Effective Representation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has fielded Hon. Dumka Gbaragba Neebee as its candidate for the Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, setting the stage for a major political contest in the Ogoni axis of Rivers State.

Gbaragba emerged from the ADC's National and State Assembly primaries conducted across Rivers State in May 2026, securing 18,255 votes to win the party's ticket for Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency. The result was among the highest recorded by House of Representatives candidates in the Rivers State primaries.

His emergence has intensified political activities in Khana and Gokana, with supporters presenting him as a grassroots politician whose campaign is centred on effective representation, community development, security, youth empowerment and greater attention to the needs of constituents.

Gbaragba's political journey predates his current federal ambition. He previously participated in elective politics, while his current campaign represents his most significant attempt to secure an elected legislative position at the national level.

Focus on Effective Representation

A major theme emerging from Gbaragba's campaign is the promise of effective and people-oriented representation.

Campaign materials supporting his candidacy have repeatedly highlighted the need for a representative who will remain connected to the people of Khana and Gokana and ensure that constituency concerns receive stronger attention at the National Assembly.

The candidate's public engagements have also demonstrated an effort to maintain relationships with community leaders, traditional institutions and other stakeholders within the constituency.

Recently, Gbaragba felicitated with elder statesman Chief Anthony Gua on his 90th birthday, describing the occasion as an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of an elder statesman and community leader.

Security and Peace in Ogoni Communities

Security has also emerged as a significant component of Gbaragba's recent political activities.

Following reported killings and security concerns in Khana, the ADC candidate expressed concern over the situation and called for stronger efforts to protect lives and restore peace in affected communities.

He has similarly appealed to communities involved in the Boue-Yeghe crisis to sheathe their swords and embrace dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

The emphasis on peace and security comes against the backdrop of wider concerns about the safety of residents and the need for stronger community and governmental responses to insecurity.

Grassroots Development and Youth Inclusion

Gbaragba's supporters have continued to frame his candidacy around grassroots development and inclusive representation.

His campaign has attracted support from youth and student-oriented groups, including an endorsement from the ADC Students Wing, which described his candidacy as an opportunity for effective representation of Khana/Gokana at the federal level.

For a constituency with a large youthful population, issues such as employment, skills development, entrepreneurship, education and access to opportunities are expected to feature prominently as the 2027 campaign progresses.

A Campaign Built Around the Constituency

As the 2027 election approaches, Gbaragba's campaign is increasingly positioning itself around the argument that federal representation should translate into tangible benefits for ordinary people.

His political message places emphasis on listening to constituents, engaging community stakeholders and pursuing interventions capable of improving the welfare and economic prospects of residents across Khana and Gokana.

For Gbaragba, the central message is clear: effective representation, peace, grassroots development and a stronger voice for the people of Khana/Gokana at the National Assembly.
