Oteri Congratulates Murphy Omoruyi On NDC Candidacy, Calls For Unity Ahead Of 2027

Amb. Prince Joseph IG-JESU Oteri of Egor Ward 6 has congratulated Hon. Murphy Osaro Omoruyi on his formal unveiling as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a congratulatory message following the unveiling ceremony held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Ehizua Event Centre, 83 Airport Road, Benin City, Oteri described Omoruyi's emergence as a significant political milestone and a reflection of the confidence reposed in him by supporters of the NDC and constituents across the federal constituency.

Oteri said the development was worthy of celebration because, in his view, it provides an opportunity for the people of Egor and Ikpoba-Okha to continue to pursue purposeful representation, responsive leadership and people-oriented development.

He described Omoruyi as a politician whose political journey has been characterised by dedication, resilience and commitment to the interests of the people, stressing that his emergence as the NDC candidate should serve as a rallying point for members and supporters of the party.

The congratulatory message comes against the backdrop of Omoruyi's formal presentation as the NDC's standard-bearer for the constituency, marking the beginning of a fresh phase of political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Omoruyi, who represents Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency in the 10th House of Representatives, has during his tenure been associated with legislative and constituency initiatives in areas including education, empowerment and community development.

Among the interventions previously reported was a scholarship programme for students in public secondary schools within Egor and Ikpoba-Okha. In November 2024, reports stated that the lawmaker awarded a ₦10 million scholarship to 120 high-performing students from public secondary schools in the two local government areas.

His legislative activities have also included advocacy for the establishment of a Federal Institute of Technology in Ikpoba-Okha, Edo State. The proposed institution is aimed at strengthening technical education and skills development in the area.

It is against this background that Oteri urged party members and supporters to close ranks and approach the 2027 political contest with a common purpose.

According to him, the task ahead is bigger than individual interests and requires reconciliation, cooperation and collective commitment from all stakeholders.

«“At this moment, we must all put aside every disagreement, reconcile our differences, and unite under one common purpose. The task before us is bigger than any individual interest. The victory of the NDC and the continued progress of Egor/Ikpoba-Okha must remain our collective priority,” Oteri stated.»

He appealed to members of the party and supporters of Omoruyi to work together and ensure that the campaign remains focused on the aspirations and welfare of the people.

Oteri also expressed confidence in Omoruyi's ability to provide what he described as purposeful and effective representation, while urging constituents to remain united as the 2027 election approaches.

Beyond the political campaign, he said the mandate should ultimately be viewed as a responsibility to the people, emphasising the need for leadership that remains accountable and responsive to constituents.

Oteri prayed for divine wisdom, strength, courage, good health and protection for Omoruyi as he embarks on the journey towards the 2027 general elections.

He also prayed for wisdom and strength for the campaign team and called on supporters to remain committed to the collective objective.

“Your victory is our victory, your success is the success of our constituency, and your mandate is a responsibility to the people,” he said.

The congratulatory message ended with a call for continued unity and determination among supporters of the NDC.

“Forward ever, backward never!” Oteri declared.

He thereafter congratulated Omoruyi once again on his emergence as the NDC candidate, while extending his goodwill to the people of Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency.
