Onwuka Thanks Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2 Supporters, Vows To Defend People’s Mandate

Okey-Joe Onuakalusi. Independent reported that Onwuka pledged to provide quality representation and focus on youth empowerment, women’s welfare and development of the constituency.

The primary result has also generated political controversy, with petitions by some supporters calling on the NDC leadership to uphold the outcome of the exercise and recognize Onwuka as the party’s candidate. The petitions alleged that Onwuka polled 1,052 votes, ahead of Okey-Joe Onuakalusi with 314 votes and David Odigie with 309 votes. These claims are contained in the petitions and should be regarded as allegations unless independently confirmed by the relevant electoral or party authorities.

Onwuka has previously been associated with the Capital Movement, a platform he described as non-partisan and focused on supporting residents, youths, women, traders and vulnerable members of the community. In December 2025, Independent and BusinessDay reported that the movement organized an empowerment programme in Oshodi-Isolo involving residents from the constituency’s six wards.

While thanking his supporters for what he described as their courage and loyalty, Onwuka urged them to remain united and focused on the task ahead.

“This victory is not mine alone. It is our collective victory,” he said, calling on residents across Oshodi, Isolo, Ajao Estate, Ejigbo and other communities within the constituency to continue working together.

He concluded by assuring his supporters that the journey they had begun together would also be completed together.

“Your labour will not be in vain. Every hour you spent, every vote you cast, every word of encouragement, every prayer—I value it. In Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2, I will value you,” Onwuka said.

He prayed for the continued peace and progress of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II and Lagos State.
