NDC Youth Wing Will Prioritize Unity, Skills Development, Grassroots Mobilization In Delta — State Coordinator

The Delta State Coordinator of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Wing, Comrade Adaighofua Eric Oghenedoro, has outlined an ambitious agenda aimed at repositioning the party's youth structure through unity, leadership development, skills acquisition, and grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in an interview shortly after his appointment, Oghenedoro expressed gratitude to the leadership of the party for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to build a vibrant and productive youth wing across Delta State.

"I am deeply honored by my appointment. My vision is to unite the youth wing in Delta State and ensure that young people are actively involved in every aspect of politics—not only as foot soldiers of the party but also in policy formulation, leadership, skills acquisition, talent discovery, and community development. We want our youths to understand the importance of good governance and become key stakeholders in nation-building," he said.

Addressing the declining interest of young Nigerians in politics, the Delta NDC Youth Coordinator acknowledged that many youths have lost confidence in the political system but insisted that the narrative must change.

"Many young people now see politics merely as an avenue to make money, which has contributed to violence during elections. We want to replace the old 'do-or-die' mentality with a culture of service and nation-building. Politics should be about serving sincerely so that we can build a better society. Under my leadership, we will establish mentorship programmes, create genuine leadership pathways, and give young people meaningful roles rather than treating them as mere spectators," he stated.

On tackling youth unemployment, education, and skills development, Oghenedoro said the NDC is committed to building a productive economy driven by innovation and job creation.

According to him, the party's development agenda places a strong emphasis on education, entrepreneurship, and skills acquisition, adding that the NDC leadership is committed to empowering young Nigerians through practical opportunities that will improve their livelihoods.

Speaking on programmes expected under his administration, he disclosed that his leadership would focus on three key areas: skills development, opportunities, and productive programmes capable of equipping young people for leadership and economic success.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Oghenedoro said the NDC Youth Wing would intensify grassroots mobilization by establishing ward-based youth task forces across Delta State.

"We will strengthen our structures from the grassroots by creating ward youth task forces that will promote the ideals of the NDC. We will organize regular ward meetings, carry out polling unit sensitization, solve community challenges, and ensure the party remains visible throughout the year—not only during election periods. We also plan to embark on PVC awareness campaigns and collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to encourage voter registration and participation," he explained.

On restoring confidence in the electoral process, the youth leader urged young Nigerians not to abandon politics despite their frustrations.

"I understand the disappointment many young people feel, but we cannot give up. We must embrace issue-based politics and reject vote-buying and money politics. Young people should participate actively, protect the integrity of the electoral process at their polling units, and engage in political meetings. Real change begins from the grassroots," he emphasized.

Oghenedoro also stressed the importance of maintaining strong collaboration with the national leadership of the NDC Youth Wing to ensure that the interests of Delta youths are adequately represented.

He revealed plans to introduce structured communication channels, including monthly reports highlighting youth-related challenges and opportunities across the state's local government areas, as well as regular engagements with the national leadership to ensure Delta youths contribute meaningfully to party decisions.

In his final message, the Delta State Youth Coordinator called on young Nigerians to become active participants in shaping the country's future.

"The youth must rise and reclaim the future of Nigeria through active political participation. The Nigeria Democratic Congress is determined to change the political narrative by laying a solid foundation for productive governance and sustainable national development. Together, we can build the Nigeria we all desire."

He thanked members of the party and supporters for their confidence, expressing optimism that the NDC Youth Wing in Delta State would become a model of youth-driven political participation and leadership.

"Thank you, and God bless Nigeria," he concluded.
