Imafidor Felicitates Urhoghide At 71, Hails His Legacy Of Public Service
Comrade Dr Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim Imafidor Honesty, Edo State House of Assembly candidate for Etsako East Constituency, has felicitated former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Distinguished Senator Matthew Urhoghide, on the occasion of his 71st birthday.
In a goodwill message issued on Sunday, August 9, 2026, Imafidor described the former senator and elder statesman as a distinguished participant in Nigeria’s democratic journey, whose years of public service have contributed significantly to the development of Edo State and the country.
He noted that Urhoghide’s tenure in the Senate represented a significant chapter in Edo’s political history, particularly during a challenging period when, according to him, the former lawmaker demonstrated that effective leadership goes beyond the exercise of authority.
Imafidor commended Urhoghide for his commitment to dialogue, inclusion, respect for diversity and accessible governance, stressing that his ability to listen, build bridges and accommodate differing perspectives helped strengthen the bonds of community and belonging across Edo State.
He further noted that the respect and affection the former senator commands across ethnic, religious and political divides remain a testament to the human dimension of his leadership and the enduring impact of his years in public service.
“As we continue to pursue a peaceful, secure, inclusive and prosperous Edo South, we recognise that progress is a continuum, built on the contributions of those who served before us,” Imafidor said.
He added that at 71, Urhoghide’s life of service remains an inspiration to the younger generation and a reminder that public office, when anchored in humility, courage and commitment to the common good, can create a lasting legacy.
Imafidor prayed that Almighty Allah SWT would grant the elder statesman sound health, renewed strength, wisdom and many more years of fulfilment in the service of humanity, Edo State and Nigeria.
He wished Senator Urhoghide a happy 71st birthday and continued success in his endeavours.
