Governor Otti Chairs Wedding Of General Obi Umahi’s Daughter In Lagos
The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, on Saturday, August 22, 2026, chaired the wedding ceremony of Miss Shekinah Chidinma, daughter of retired Major General Obi Abel Umahi, and her husband, Mr. Moshope Alexander, in Lagos.
Miss Shekinah is the daughter of retired Major General Obi Abel Umahi, elder brother of the former Governor of Ebonyi State and current Minister of Works, Senator Dave Nwaeze Umahi.
The ceremony attracted family members, friends, political leaders, business executives and other distinguished Nigerians.
Governor Otti attended the church wedding at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Powerlink Chapel, 38 Providence Street, Marwa Junction, Lagos, before proceeding to the reception at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.
Speaking at the reception, Governor Otti congratulated the newlyweds and urged them to remain united, patient and committed to understanding one another as they build their marriage.
He likened marriage to a parcel whose contents can only be fully known after it has been opened, stressing the need for couples to accept and work through the realities of married life.
“As you know, this business is like a parcel. Once you get the parcel and open it, whatever you find inside it, is your luck. We don’t have to know,” the Governor said.
Governor Otti encouraged the couple to give each other room to understand their differences, make necessary adjustments and learn from their experiences. He also appealed to their families and friends to give them the space and support needed to build their home.
He prayed for God’s blessings upon the union, including the gift of children and the resources required to provide for their family, while also asking for divine grace for the couple to build a happy and successful home.
In his vote of thanks, retired Major General Obi Umahi expressed appreciation to Governor Otti and other distinguished guests for honouring the family with their presence.
General Umahi described his daughter as an intelligent and promising child from an early age and expressed confidence in the bright future of the newlyweds.
Among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony were the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Governor of Ogun State, Mr. Dapo Abiodun; Minister of Works, Senator Dave Nwaeze Umahi; Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi; Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Ifeanyi Ossai; businessman and philanthropist, Mr. Tony Elumelu, and other prominent personalities.
