Bibi Unveils People-Centred Agenda For Edo South Senate Race
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial candidate for Edo South, Hon. Sunny Aguebor (BIBI), JP, has unveiled a people-centred agenda focused on empathy, accountability, economic empowerment and purposeful representation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Aguebor, popularly known as BIBI, presented his vision in a message to the people of Edo South, stressing that politics should go beyond promises and that leadership must be measured by its impact on the lives of citizens.
He said genuine representation begins with listening to the people, understanding their challenges and taking practical steps to address them.
According to the NDC candidate, residents of Edo South have continued to demand better roads, improved healthcare, quality education, employment opportunities, agricultural development, security and an economy that creates opportunities for hardworking citizens.
Aguebor said his proposed representation would be anchored on empathy, accountability, development and inclusive representation, with a commitment to using the legislative, oversight and advocacy responsibilities of the Senate to advance the interests of the senatorial district.
Youth Development and Economic Empowerment
The candidate identified human capital and youth development as major priorities of his agenda.
He said he would pursue opportunities to equip young people with digital, technical and entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to participate meaningfully in a competitive economy rather than depend on political patronage.
Aguebor also highlighted the agricultural potential of Edo South, saying the sector could become a major source of employment, food security and economic empowerment if properly developed.
He pledged to advocate policies and programmes that would help move agriculture from subsistence production towards sustainable, value-driven enterprises capable of creating jobs and generating income.
Healthcare, Education and Infrastructure
On healthcare, Aguebor said residents deserve accessible and functional health facilities.
He promised to advocate stronger primary healthcare facilities, improved equipment, reliable power solutions and programmes aimed at protecting vulnerable families.
He also described education as one of the most important tools for breaking the cycle of poverty.
According to him, his representation would support initiatives that expand access to scholarships, vocational training, skills acquisition and modern learning opportunities.
On infrastructure, the NDC candidate said roads, electricity, water systems and other critical facilities across Edo South require sustained attention.
He pledged to pursue legislative and budgetary advocacy for projects that would improve transportation, commerce and the overall quality of life of residents.
Security and Community Protection
Aguebor also placed security among the priorities of his proposed representation, stressing that meaningful development cannot take place where residents, farmers and business owners live in fear.
He said he would use legislative oversight and advocacy to push for stronger security arrangements and greater protection for communities across Edo South.
Accountability to Constituents
Beyond his activities in the National Assembly, Aguebor promised to maintain regular engagement with constituents and provide transparent communication on his legislative activities.
He stressed that elected representatives should remain accessible throughout their tenure and not only return to their constituents during election periods.
“The people must not come looking for their representative only during elections. The representative must remain accessible to the people throughout the tenure,” he stated.
Aguebor said his campaign was not built around empty slogans but represented a call for a new culture of political representation in which empathy would be matched with action and promises translated into policies and measurable results.
He said Edo South deserved a senator who would listen before speaking, understand before acting and put public service ahead of personal interests.
“I am ready to serve,” he declared, while calling on residents to join his vision of an Edo South where young people have opportunities, farmers receive support, communities benefit from infrastructure and every citizen has a voice.
Aguebor's political message centres on empathy, competence, accountability and progress, as he seeks to represent the people of Edo South in the Senate under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in the 2027 general elections.
