Aisowieren Says NDDC Has Executed Over 400 Projects In Edo Under His Watch

The Edo State Representative on the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rt. Hon. Patrick Aisowieren, says more than 400 development projects have been executed across Edo State in less than three years under his stewardship.

Aisowieren, a former member of the Edo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, said his tenure at the interventionist agency has been guided by the same results-oriented approach that defined his legislative career.

"Like in the State Assembly and House of Representatives, I am focused on setting a new record for the number of projects executed by the NDDC in Edo under my watch," he said.

The NDDC commissioner, who was appointed to the commission's Governing Board by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023 to represent Edo State, noted that his philosophy of public service has always centred on delivering measurable projects and tangible benefits to constituents.

Aisowieren recalled representing Orhionmwon East Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2015, where he served as Chief Whip and said he delivered 31 constituency projects while facilitating 13 additional projects through legislative advocacy and oversight.

He also served two terms in the House of Representatives, representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency between 2015 and 2023. According to him, he attracted more than 82 development projects across the constituency and implemented empowerment programmes that saw the distribution of over 3,000 motorcycles, electricity generators, cassava grinding machines, and other items to beneficiaries.

Speaking on the sidelines of Governor Monday Okpebholo's engagement with Edo indigenes in the United Kingdom over the weekend, Aisowieren said the NDDC has continued to expand its developmental footprint across Edo State.

He explained that the over 400 projects executed by the commission cover critical sectors, including road infrastructure, healthcare, education, rural electrification, women and youth empowerment, community development, and security enhancement through the Project Light Up Niger Delta initiative.

According to him, the commission has maintained transparency by ensuring that project sites are accessible for public inspection while its programmes and activities are regularly showcased to enable stakeholders and the media verify the interventions.

Responding to recent criticisms on social media, Aisowieren dismissed what he described as "incoherent and childish name-calling," maintaining that his more than two decades of uninterrupted public service have earned him the confidence and trust of both the people and government.

He also praised the leadership of the NDDC, describing the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, as "a game changer" and the Chairman of the Governing Board, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, as an experienced leader whose contributions have helped reposition the commission.

According to Aisowieren, the board's collaborative efforts have enhanced the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through impactful development projects across Edo State and the wider Niger Delta region.

"As we continue to work, our target remains clear: more projects, more impact, and more records broken for the good of Edo people and the overall Niger Delta region," he said.
