293 Ekeremor Youth Leaders Back Dickson, Saboh, NDC Assembly Candidates Ahead Of 2027
More than 293 current and former youth presidents representing communities across Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have declared their collective support for Senator Henry Seriake Dickson and other candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement followed consultations among youth leaders across the local government and is being viewed as a significant grassroots mobilisation in support of the party’s candidates ahead of the elections.
The youth leaders endorsed Senator Henry Seriake Dickson for the Bayelsa West Senatorial District; High Chief Hon. Selekebinah Saboh for the Sagbama–Ekeremor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives; and Hon. Ebi Afesuku, Hon. Alex Janekumo and Hon. Ebilade Ekerefe for the Bayelsa State House of Assembly seats representing Ekeremor Constituencies I, II and III respectively.
According to the group, the decision was based on their assessment of the candidates’ leadership credentials, experience, commitment to public service and capacity to effectively represent and advance the interests of their constituents.
Speaking on behalf of the youth leaders, the Coordinator of Youth Presidents of Ekeremor LGA, Mr. Justice Yanga, described the endorsement as a collective and carefully considered position rather than an isolated declaration.
Yanga urged youths and residents across Ekeremor to remain united, participate actively in the democratic process and make electoral choices based on competence, character and commitment to service.
He also called on the endorsed candidates to remain accessible and responsive to their constituents if elected, while reaffirming the group’s commitment to peaceful political participation and campaigns conducted with decorum.
Reacting to the development, Chairman of the NDC in Ekeremor LGA, Comrade Ebide Brown, commended the youth leaders for what he described as a bold demonstration of collective confidence in the party and its candidates.
Brown said the endorsement reflected growing political unity among young people across the local government and urged them to sustain their engagement while remaining peaceful, focused and committed as the 2027 electoral process unfolds.
The development adds another layer to the emerging political landscape in Ekeremor, with hundreds of current and former youth leaders publicly aligning behind a common electoral position.
Beyond its numerical strength, the endorsement highlights the growing role of youth leaders in shaping political representation, electoral participation and the direction of community development in Ekeremor and the wider Bayelsa West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
