Ahead of the forthcoming Edo State House of Assembly election, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Akoko-Edo Constituency I, Rt. Hon. Jude Omokafe Awelewa, has called on residents to remain hopeful, united, and committed to the pursuit of good governance as the second half of 2026 begins.
In a goodwill message to commemorate the new month and the commencement of the year's second half, Awelewa expressed gratitude to God for preserving the lives of the people and prayed for continued peace, protection, good health, and prosperity across the constituency.
He acknowledged the economic and security challenges confronting many Nigerians but urged citizens not to lose hope, stressing that difficult times would eventually give way to better days.
"Our nation is passing through challenging times. Many families are grappling with insecurity, economic hardship, and uncertainty. While these realities are difficult, I encourage every one of us not to lose hope. Every dark night gives way to dawn, and I believe there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel," he stated.
The House of Assembly hopeful also emphasized the need for collective action in promoting accountable and compassionate leadership, urging residents to remain committed to building a government that is responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.
According to him, citizens have a shared responsibility to support the emergence of leaders who understand the plight of the masses and are willing to champion policies that improve the lives of ordinary people.
Awelewa prayed that the new month would usher in divine favour, restoration, progress, and abundant blessings for every household in Akoko-Edo Constituency I, while wishing residents a peaceful and fulfilling second half of the year.
Reaffirming his vision for the constituency, the campaign organization of the NDC candidate stated that the time had come for Akoko-Edo Constituency I to assume its rightful place in Edo State's development agenda.
The campaign noted that the constituency had long been underserved and deserved purposeful representation driven by community-centered development and inclusive governance.
It described Awelewa as a leader with a proven record of service, citing his experience as a former Students' Union Speaker and his understanding of legislative processes as qualities that position him to effectively represent the constituency at the Edo State House of Assembly.
The organization called on residents to rally behind the NDC candidate, expressing confidence that his leadership would usher in a new era of effective representation, sustainable development, and people-oriented governance across Akoko-Edo Constituency I.
