Emohua LG Confirms Resignation Of Egbeda CDC Members, Says Interim Committee's Tenure, Expires
The Emohua Local Government Council has confirmed the receipt of a joint resignation letter from some members of the Egbeda Community Development Committee (CDC), while clarifying that the tenure of the interim committee had already expired before the resignations were submitted.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Chairman on Information and Strategic Communication, Bright Jossy-Elendu, the council received a letter dated July 10, 2026, notifying the chairman of the resignation of several members of the Egbeda CDC.
The signatories to the resignation letter include Mr. Saint Omereji, Mr. Ogbuigba Nelson, Mr. Enyi Samuel Chichi, Mr. Sunday Ogbugo, and Mr. Sunday Adah.
While acknowledging and accepting the resignations, the council stated that the interim Community Development Committee, led by Amb. Friday Ovumgba Friday and constituted in October 2025, had already completed its tenure.
The statement explained that although the committee's tenure had elapsed, the local government had not received any official communication from the leadership of the Egbeda community indicating whether the interim committee should be retained or replaced.
The council further clarified that the appointment of the Central Egbeda CDC and Youth Council was based on nominations and recommendations submitted by the leadership of the constituent communities. It noted that the nominees were profiled by the relevant security agencies before their appointments were approved by the Chairman of Emohua Local Government.
The local government reaffirmed its commitment to due process, transparency, and collaboration with community stakeholders in ensuring effective grassroots governance and the peaceful administration of community affairs.
