2027: Former Senate President Ahmed Lawal's SA, Abdulmalik Abdullahi, Endorses Dr. Ado-Iliyasu For FCT Senate Race
Former Senate President Ahmed Lawan's Special Adviser, Abdulmalik Abdullahi, has declared his support for the senatorial ambition of Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu, describing him as a leader committed to service, accountability, and people-focused representation ahead of the 2027 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senate election.
Abdullahi, who served as SA to the Senate President from 2019 to 2023, said Dr. Iliyasu represents a new generation of purposeful leadership capable of bringing meaningful development and effective representation to the people of the FCT.
According to him, Dr. Iliyasu is not a politician of empty promises but a leader whose vision is anchored on integrity, responsibility, and improving the lives of residents through practical solutions.
He urged FCT residents to support a candidate who prioritises the interests of the people, stressing that the 2027 election presents an opportunity to choose leadership that will promote inclusive development and accountability.
Speaking on the ongoing debate over the zoning of the FCT Senate seat to Abuja South, Abdullahi aligned with the call for equity and fairness, noting that the area has experienced limited representation at the senatorial level despite its significant population and contribution to the growth of the territory.
He explained that Abuja South comprises four of the six Area Councils in the FCT — Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali — and has the largest concentration of indigenous communities, yet has had fewer opportunities to produce a senator compared to other parts of the territory.
"Zoning the Senate seat to Abuja South is about equity, fairness, and inclusion. It will ensure that development, federal projects, and policies reflect the realities of communities across the zone while strengthening unity within the FCT," he said.
Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu, who is contesting under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has consistently highlighted people-centred governance, infrastructure development, justice, and equitable representation as the pillars of his agenda.
The FCT senatorial hopeful, who serves as the FCT Director of the International Human Rights Protection Service (IHRPS) and is a Chartered Arbitrator, has also outlined plans to focus on healthcare improvement, youth empowerment, education, rural infrastructure, and the welfare of vulnerable groups if elected.
Supporters of his aspiration describe him as a young, vibrant, and dependable leader with a commitment to building an FCT where every community is heard and every resident has access to opportunities.
Abdullahi called on voters to support Dr. Iliyasu's vision of a stronger and more inclusive Federal Capital Territory, stressing that the future of the FCT depends on choosing leaders with the capacity and commitment to serve.
