Hon. Dr. Najib Zakari Leads Community Environmental Hygiene Campaign

Hon. Dr. Najib Zakari has reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development by championing a community-wide environmental hygiene sensitization campaign aimed at promoting a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment for residents.

The exercise, organised by the Sabong Garin Nasara Fahimta Multipurpose Cooperative Society with the support of Hon. Dr. Zakari, brought together community members, volunteers, stakeholders, and traditional leaders to raise awareness about proper sanitation, responsible waste disposal, and the importance of environmental cleanliness.

Participants were educated on the need for collective responsibility in maintaining a healthy environment, with organisers stressing that a clean community is essential for preventing disease outbreaks, improving public health, and fostering peaceful and productive living.

Speaking during the sensitization campaign, Hon. Dr. Zakari urged residents to make environmental cleanliness a daily civic responsibility rather than an occasional exercise. He noted that sustainable development begins with healthy communities and can only be achieved when citizens actively participate in protecting and preserving their surroundings.

According to him, environmental sustainability and public health remain critical pillars of community development, adding that meaningful progress extends beyond infrastructure and social interventions to include initiatives that directly improve the quality of life of the people.

The campaign also highlighted Hon. Dr. Zakari's commitment to people-centred leadership through practical community-based initiatives designed to promote sustainable development at the grassroots.

The Sabong Garin Nasara Fahimta Multipurpose Cooperative Society expressed appreciation to volunteers, community leaders, stakeholders, and residents whose support contributed to the success of the exercise. The society noted that the active participation of community members demonstrated a shared commitment to building a cleaner and healthier environment.

As the campaign concluded, residents were encouraged to sustain the initiative by keeping their homes, streets, drainage systems, markets, schools, and other public spaces clean. Organisers maintained that maintaining a clean environment is a collective responsibility and called on all residents to continue working together to promote good health, environmental sustainability, and community development.
