Governor Diri Reaffirms Commitment To Development, Assures Timely Completion Of Ekeremor-Ndoro Road
Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has reiterated that his administration's commitment to road infrastructure development is driven by the desire to improve access to communities and alleviate the challenges faced by residents of the state's predominantly riverine areas.
The governor made this known on Thursday during an inspection of the ongoing Ekeremor-Ndoro section of the Ekeremor-Agge Road project in Ekeremor Local Government Area.
Diri expressed confidence that the project, which includes a spur road leading to Peretorugbene community, would be completed within the stipulated timeframe despite the difficult terrain.
According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, the governor commended the contractor, Lubrik Construction Company (LCC), for the quality and pace of work, describing the firm as a reliable partner with a proven track record in executing major projects for the state government.
He cited the roads constructed by the company in the New Yenagoa City, including one that was inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on April 10, 2026.
"We all know what it takes to construct a one-kilometre road in Bayelsa State. If we surmounted the challenges of the Nembe-Brass Road terrain, this project will not be an exception," the governor said.
"For me, I am development-oriented. I want to see the suffering of my people end, and that is what I am doing.
"I am very satisfied with the level of work I have seen today. This is not a new company to us as a government. The company has been working with the Bayelsa State Government since I assumed office. The beautiful roads in the New Yenagoa City were constructed by this company."
Providing an update on the project, the Project Manager of Lubrik Construction Company, Engr. Abu Saheed, disclosed that approximately seven kilometres of the 28-kilometre road had already reached the stone-base stage.
He assured that with continued support from the state government, the project would be completed and delivered next year as scheduled.
Saheed also revealed that all materials required for the construction of the major bridge along the route had been assembled at the company's yard, adding that piling works would commence within the next two months.
He further noted that sand-filling operations were steadily advancing towards Peretorugbene community.
The Ekeremor-Agge Road project is considered a strategic infrastructure initiative that will provide vital access to the proposed Agge Deep Seaport, stimulate economic activities, improve transportation, reduce travel time, and strengthen security across communities in Bayelsa State's western corridor.
Accompanying the governor during the inspection were the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Akpe; members representing Sagbama Constituencies 2 and 3 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Bernard Kenebai and Hon. Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown; the APC senatorial candidate for Bayelsa West, Chief Fidelis Agbiki; Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Chief Solomon Agwana; members of the State Executive Council, and other top government officials.
