Enugu Government Awards Scholarships To 760 Students, Teachers

The Enugu State Government has awarded scholarships to 760 beneficiaries under its 2025/2026 Local Scholarship Scheme, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to quality education across the state.

Announcing the development on Monday, the Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board, Chukwuemeka Mbah, said the beneficiaries comprise 500 undergraduate students, 100 postgraduate students, and more than 160 public school teachers drawn from the state's 17 local government areas and various fields of study.

According to Mbah, the scholarship programme is part of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's commitment to ensuring that no deserving resident of the state is denied educational opportunities due to financial constraints.

He explained that the inclusion of public school teachers in the scheme is designed to strengthen the capacity of educators and enhance the effective implementation of the state's experiential learning model in schools.

Mbah disclosed that successful applicants who participated in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) are being contacted through text messages and email on a local government-by-local government basis for verification and documentation.

He added that the verification exercise for undergraduate and postgraduate beneficiaries will commence immediately, while that of the teachers will follow subsequently.

The state government described the scholarship initiative as another significant milestone in its efforts to build a highly skilled and educated workforce, reiterating its belief that investing in education remains key to securing a prosperous future for Enugu State.

The government also reaffirmed its development vision with the slogan: "Indeed, Our Tomorrow Is Here!"
