Diri To Certify, Empower Entrepreneurs At 2026 Skills Acquisition Ceremony
The Bayelsa State Government has announced plans to host the 2026 Douye Diri Skills Entrepreneurs' Certification and Empowerment Ceremony as part of its ongoing efforts to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainable economic development across the state.
The landmark event, scheduled to hold on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Yenagoa, will bring together entrepreneurs, business leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, development partners and other stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of beneficiaries of the Douye Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme.
According to a statement issued by the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Entrepreneurship Development and Director-General of the Douye Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme, Amb. Mrs. Charity Kens Godwin, the ceremony is designed to recognize, certify and empower entrepreneurs who have demonstrated dedication, innovation and excellence in their various fields.
The programme, which is a key component of Governor Douye Diri's Prosperity Administration, underscores the government's commitment to entrepreneurship development, human capital advancement, job creation and sustainable economic growth.
Beneficiaries who successfully completed training under the state's skills acquisition and empowerment programme will receive professional business certifications aimed at strengthening their enterprises, enhancing credibility and promoting self-reliance.
The event will be held under the theme, "Building an Entrepreneurial Bayelsa: From Skills Acquisition to Certification, Innovation and Sustainable Wealth Creation."
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Amb. Godwin noted that the certification and empowerment ceremony reflects Governor Diri's vision of creating opportunities for Bayelsans to become productive entrepreneurs and contributors to the state's economy.
She emphasized that the Prosperity Administration remains committed to supporting entrepreneurship and fostering an enabling environment for innovation, enterprise development and wealth creation.
